I’m an African American girl from Long Island and I have always been interested in Sophie Davis:) but now I’m worried that I won’t be able to get in due to its high expectation. I just finished my sophmore year and I’m heading for my junior year and I just want to know is there really any definite way for a person to get accepted? I want to know everything I need.ASAP haha

OompaLoompa - your SATS are within the good range. I got 1930 and 2030, superscore of 2100 and I made it. What matters most is you give a good interview after you get the interview which you should with those scores. I had ACT of 31, but my science section was 35, which is what you should aim to be the best at. NO ED/EA to Sophie Davis. No need to retake SATS, those are very good scores for SD.

brailsfo6 - NO definite way. Just get the interview and then ACE it. To get the interview have good grades over 4 years, good interests, and volunteering. To get an interview, the numbers and volunteering count, to get accepted, the interview counts.

Good LUCK guys.
Source: Accepted & Going to Attend starting FALL 2011.

clmb007- you have good ACT, on SAT maybe can improve. Interview counts the most, with those scores and ec, you will likely get an interview.

APs:

US history: 3
Chemistry: 4

Current APs:
Calculus BC

Biology

Next Term Aps:
Microeconomics

Volunteer:
Mount Sinai Hospital (Pathology department)

Extracurriculars are mostly in school

Grades: 93 avg unweighted

Hi,

For anybody who submitted their application already, can you tell me if they emailed you after you submitted your application? I submitted mine but I did not receive an email confirming that my application was submitted. I am wondering if this is normal or not.

What’s a competitive ACT score for Sophie Daivs. I have a 33 but i’m not sure if its good enough…

I uploaded my essays and when I did upload them it said that it uploaded all three. However, I did not press save, but submit application. I am worried that my essays were not saved. I uploaded the essays and submitted my application all in that one moment. If you do not mind can you tell me if I did correctly

to warmmilk, yea that is competitive! that is actually good for any school.

To anyone confused about the online application:

I spoke to SD today and they said it’s normal to not receive an email confirmation from them. Additionally, their servers were so overloaded that they extended the application deadline to Wednesday, January 12th. The updated deadline should be reflected on your Sophie Davis VIP login page. Don’t worry - the essays did get uploaded. I had the same concern

Thanks! i am so relieved :). I hope i get in!!

Hi I was wondering if Science Research or Volunteering has a bigger impact on your application. I’m a junior in high school and all last summer I did research and won semi-finalist in the Siemens competition. Should I continue research or do volunteer work (I’m volunteering during the spring) in the summer?
Also what has more influence on your app., ur SAT scores or ec’s?
Plz and Thanx

I would suggest you go with volunteering, preferably in a healthcare related environment. One of the Sophie Davis essay prompts asks you to describe one of your healthcare related extracurricular experiences and how it has impacted you, so I would definitely suggest gaining some real, meaningful exposure if you can.

does anyone know when interview notices come out? Do you think i have a chance with
a 1380 (math+reading) sat score = 2180 total? I have been getting rejected from all the programs so far.

So what has more impact on your app. the SAT score or the Extra Curriculars?

I feel like its a combination of both…you can’t really prioritize one over the other

has anyone received an interview yet?

just received an interview notification!

Should I freak out if I do not get an Interview notification yet

naah. they send interview letters right up until the end of march-ish

does anyone have any interview tips for sophie davis?

@ashbash123: did you get an interview notification? If so, can you please share your stats?
