My brother wants to play college football. He is only a sophomore therefore no questionnaires have come. SHould he fill out Online ones now or wait till after the season?

he should be the best player on the team, in his position, and the best player in your league in his position…and not think about marketing himself yet. if he’s great, they’ll find him!

I couple things …

First, check out the NCAA rules about recruiting which can be found on NCAA.org … fyi, the rules are different depending on DI, DII, and DIII.

Second, at this point I do not believe coaches can proactively contact your brother … however they can respond to any contact your brother initiates (form, email, call, etc).

Finally, At the high DI level I would tend to agree with reply above … but not for other schools … especially by DIII a ton of the recruiting is initially started by the athlete. There are 30,000 high schools in the US … all football coaches know the best 10 QBs … but if they are looking for one of the best 3000 that is a lot tougher. Your brother knows his geographic preference, academic level, football system preference … that allows him to target schools much better than schools trying to target athletes.

yeah he is not really thinking D1. so he should probably wait and initiate after the season?

There is no need to wait … if this is your brother’s first season of varisty it might make sense to wait until he has some highlight videos that can be shared with coaches. IF he does contact coaches now do not be surprised if it takes awhile for them to respond … the college coaches are in season now and your brother is young so there is no time crunch yet.
