Considering that you are taking an AP History and Math course already, I’d take AP Econ if you are intent on taking another AP. However, you do have a rigorous schedule and I’d urge you to seriously consider taking an easy elective that you’d enjoy.
Does your school require Pre-Calc? Algebra 2 doesn’t cover all the prerequisites for AP Calc BC and your school might bar you from taking it. Also, is there a particular reason why you want to quit Orchestra? Colleges won’t look down on you if you have a music elective instead of more APs. I heard from other people that taking AP Bio and AP Chem together won’t work out well for most kids. Since your schedule is already full of other time-consuming classes, you should take Physics in place of one of them.
Why are you testing out of Precalc?
Why are you taking two AP Sciences?
Do you think that you are well prepared to handle the jump between 3 honors and 1 AP to 5 AP and 1 honors?
Why have you decided not to spread out your AP classes throughout HS? If you’re doing this for college apps, you need to know that the positive effects of AP classes level out after 8 APs and after taking 8 colleges look instead for your ECs and essays.
I am definetly ready for the jump. I am testin out of precalc because I am thoroughly familiar with calc bc. I want to take all these ap classes simply to challenge myself. Regular classes are too easy. @IAmNotCreativ
What upper level classes are available at your school? If you were at mine, you’d already run out of math by Sophomore year. By the end of Junior year, you’d run out of science classes and maybe history at the rate you are going. Why are you accelerating out of so many subjects and would your plan really leave you with enough to take Senior year?
Will you run out of courses before senior year? Do you have a plan if this happens (ie Dual Enrollment)?
You should make a 4 year plan outlining all the classes you will be taking through high school (including electives, graduation requirement, etc.)
Ask people at your school, who are taking the classes you want to take how they feel about their course load and the difficulty of the classes.
You haven’t said anything about what your interests are so I’m not sure how we can help you decide between the different subjects.
Why aren’t you taking physics? Isn’t it a pre-rec for AP chem? I don’t see much purpose in rushing into chem before you’ve done physics. You still have two more years of high school. And don’t you need to take things like PE and health? That seems to be missing.
It sounds like you don’t have any particular interest in the topics of the APs you asked us about (or you would know which one you want) so I would suggest continuing in orchestra rather than trying to pile on a random AP as an elective. You should be able to fit some of them in later on when you complete the core APs.
You have some of the most demanding APs on that schedule. Talk to other students at your school because it is a pretty tough schedule. You might ask them if they are enjoying their school year and how much sleep they are getting.
