Sophomore course selection (class of 2019)

Hey guys, I’m planning on doing the following classes for sophomore year. I’d appreciate any feedback.

These are my freshman courses (I got all As first semester):

Honors Algebra 2 &Trig
Honors Biology
Honors English 9
AP Human Geography
Spanish 2
Orchestra

These are what I’m planning to do next year.

Honors Precalculus
Honors Chemistry
Honors English 10
AP Art History
AP Statistics
Spanish 3

If anyone has taken any of these classes, I would appreciate it if you could tell me how they went: which ones are hard, which are easy, which require more self studying, which ones are more logic orientated, which books would be helpful for studying, etc. Specifically I was wondering about AP Statistics and AP Art History because I don’t know anyone who’s taken either of those. Thanks.

I know some people that took AP Art History, and they said that it was a ton of memorization; if you do not have interest in this subject, then I would not take it. As for AP statistics, I found not know much about this course. Good luck!

Hi, I’m a junior, but I can give you some insight into Honors Precalc, Honors Chem, Honors English 10, and Spanish 3!

I’m in Honors Precalc now, and, at least at my school, it’s about a semester of reviewing things I learned in Algebra II, and the second semester is Trig and new material. It may be different at your school.

I took Honors Chem last year and it was by far the most difficult class I took that year. Of course, difficulty levels may differ from school to school, so I suggest asking upperclassmen at your school what they thought of those class. Better yet, try to find the teacher who teaches the classes and ask them about courseload, etc.

English has never been my strong suit, so I struggled a bit in Honors English 10, but it wasn’t necessarily a hard class.

At my school, Spanish 3 is mostly about building vocab and grammar, so it did involve studying, but like I mentioned earlier, it may be different at your school.

Ultimately, I found Spanish 3 and Honors Precalc to be easy, and Honors chem to be the hardest by a wide margin. Chem required a lot of self studying, but English not so much (Spanish and Precalc were about average). As for being more logic oriented, it depends on what you consider to be that way.

I hope this helped, and if you have questions, feel free to ask.
