Sophomore Housing- Calling all Upperclassmen!

I'm a current freshman at cornell, and I know there are a couple upperclassmen on this site that might be able to tell me a little about sophomore housing.

First, where did you live as a sophomore?

Second, what dorm on west campus/college town do you think provides the best all-around living experience?

I was really considering the Becker or Cook houses, but some of my friends don't want to be part of the mandatory meal plan. I'm assuming I should avoid the class halls, so that leaves the gothics, sheldon court, and cacadilla. Is it common for sophomores to end up with rooms in collegetown dorms?. . .it seems like they might go fast.

I see that most of the upperclassman dorms are suite style. . .so when you make a block of 5 people, do they all have to be the same sex? I haven't run into the answer to this one anywhere. . .seems like it would be a frequently asked question.
