Hi everyone!
The housing app for current students is out now, and there’s a lot of information out there about first year housing, but not too much for second year housing. I saw the descriptions on the housing website, but most of them sound pretty similar.
I wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions regarding sophomore dorms in terms of how “clean” the rooms are, spaciousness, location, etc.
The options we have on Foggy Bottom are:
-2109 F St.
-FSK
-JBKO
-Munson
-Guthridge
-Lafayette
-Fulbright
-Amsterdam
The housing app closes pretty soon, so any info would be helpful!!
Thank you!
Is it your second year at GW or are you a transfer student?
If it’s your second year, here’s my humble synopsis of the dorms. I’ll can speak to the location of all of them but I have only been in a few:
2109 F St: This is a pretty central location if you think you’ll have classes on E street. The Marvin Center is a little bit of a hike. Classes on K street would be a huge pain.
FSK: Location is pretty terrible as it’s in the corner of campus.
JBKO: I’d rank this as “average” for a sophomore dorm. Space is a little more than a typical freshman dorm but you’ll have a few more amenities like a kitchenette. Right next to the Metro, so if you commute to work or internships it’s handy. Plus, Whole Foods is right across the street
Munson: Right next to JBKO so location perks are the same.
Guthridge: Right next to 2109 so location “perks” are the same
Lafayette: Since the reno this might as well be a new building. I think the inside is very nice and the rooms are average size
Fullbright: Aging building, small kitchens. Some of my friends stayed in a triple and the space was a little tight. The central location was really nice, though. Most classes will be a very short walk
Amsterdam: One of the newer buildings available to sophomores, pretty decent rooms. Above average space. Location is a little secluded but close to Shenkman for the food in the basement, Hell Well.
Hope this helps!
