Sophomore SAT

We can use the SAT scores from sophomore year, correct? But not the scores from as a freshman?

I'd like to take the SAT next year and get everything out of the way.

^Yes, you can use scores from sophomore year. I think (operative word being think) you can use scores from freshman year as well. It’s scores from eighth grade and below that are unusable iirc.

You could use scores from sophomore year, but I don’t know if it is a good idea to “get everything out of the way.” Every year you spend in school, you learn more things (seems obvious). So hopefully at the end of junior year, you have more knowledge than you have during sophomore year. Therefore, I think that you will miss you on a chance to improve your scores if you take the SAT earlier than junior year.

I am only saying this because I saw in one of your previous posts that you are interested in top schools (HYPS), so you will be aiming high.

^ I’ve pretty much nailed the math. The SAT only tests up to Algebra 2 and next year I’ll be taking a Pre-Calc/Calc course. As for the verbal, I’ll work on that over the next school year by building up my vocabulary and comprehension techniques. And I’m a boss at the writing section but I’ll still review for that. Anyway, even if I’m unsatisfied with my score I can always retake the SAT as a junior.
