Sophomore SAT's vs Junior PSAT's

As the October PSAT results are about to hit, I thought this comparison would be interesting. Specifically looking for data pairs where SAT's (w/ writing) were taken FIRST, then PSAT's taken SECOND, to assess if there is any improvement along the way. There won't be that many of you out there I suspect (compared to the conventional sequence of PSAT>>SAT).

FORMAT:
Soph SAT/Junior PSAT

e.g.:
1880/195

Any words of wisdom on why you think your performance changed, please speak up.

ps....this question is the inverse of that asked on the prior PSAT>>SAT thread:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=52299

I have not gotten my junior psat results but my March SAT: 1780. Junior PSATs should up becuse after the SAT the PSAT seemed much easier.

S2 got scores today:
1860/201

I don't know the breakdown yet on the PSAT, as his GC only told him his cumulative score. They will distribute the score reports later this week, I guess.

When he took the SAT as a sophomore, he bombed the CR (590) after scoring in the 700s consistently on all of his practice tests. I don't know whether the practice tests weren't realistic or the real SAT was particularly hard -- maybe it was just a bad day for him, who knows?

Right now we're just hoping that a 201 will be enough to qualify him as a National Hispanic Scholar...

I have Freshman SAT to Sophomore PSAT if that helps:
1380/218 (1460 M/R equivalent)

Well, I know someone's PSAT (10)--> PSAT (11)...very dramatic improvement. (Not mine, I haven't gotten mine back for 11th yet)

10th-
CR-58
W-60
M-68

11th-
CR-80
W-79
M-80

It really is rather mind boggling...

snack, your friend either didn't care about the 10th grade test or just did some really really really good prep. haha

my PSAT 10 to PSAT 11 was:
190(51V, 72M, 68W)
to
207(59CR, 76M, 72W)

SAT march 2005 (soph yr)
2220 (800m 690 cr 730w)

PSAT this year junior
223 (800m 630 cr 800w)

also my soph PSAT was
205 (80m 60cr 65w), so an 18pt improvement in one yr!

and btw i am NOT retaking SAT

Soph PSAT
167 (M-52,Cr-58, W-57)

Junior PSAT
204 (M-72, Cr-63, W-69)

370 point increase!!!!!! Just proves that if you work hard and want something so bad, you will get it (I told myself I needed to get over a 204)

one big difference is on the math -- the SAT math contains 3-5 Alg II problems, whereas the psat is only Alg I and Geom.

vinny, i got a 167 soph too.... idk what i got this year though.... find out soon.... anyone know anything abbout the hispanic scholar recognition thingy?

Hmmm this is not really what the OP is asking but I got
221 Soph PSAT
2300 Junior SAT

Hopefully I'll find out about Junior PSAT tommorow crosses fingers

I haven't gotten my Junior PSATs but I took the November SAT for the heck of it....

Soph PSAT: 187
Junior SAT: 2270

Just shows that you can improve, I guess...Now let's hope I got about the same score on the PSAT as on the SAT....

Soph SATs vs Junior PSATs, that is.

PSAT scores are rolling in from what I can see.

2020/211

I have no idea why I improved. I did minimal prep. Weird thing is I took the SAT about a week before my PSAT and got a 1860... must have had an off day or something. I've been working my butt off to get a 1400 M&CR in January..so hopefully I won't screw myself over again on the SAT :)

2260(690cr,780m,790wr)/235(75cr,80m,80wr)
