Sophomore Schedule

Hi, I have had to change schools recently (Army kid) and I have been signing up for my classes that I will be taking my Sophomore year. I come from an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, where I took all PDP classes. At this new school all they have is the lesser known AICE programe? When I talked to the counselor yesterday she says that this school & program is extremely rigorous, I assured her that I am well prepared (after seeing last year) and when I showed her what I wanted to take she about had a heart attack! She told me that she is extremely scared that it it will be an overload of work, what do you guys think? This is less then I would be taking if I had stayed at the IBWS.

AP EUROPEAN HISTORY
HONORS CHEMESTRY
HONORS BIOLOGY
HONORS FRENCH II
HONORS SPANISH III
HONORS ENGLISH II
HONORS ALGEBRA II
BAND (OBOES FTW)

Post Script ~ I do plan (as on now) to going to an IB world school my J&S years to get the diploma, its about 20 miles away. BTW, do you guys think that the IB program is WORTH driving 40M/day or should I stay at this AICE programe? I have heard that " that the entire concept is derived from those who were rejected from the International Baccalaureate Programme as students." Is this true? How do colleges see this? IB>AICE or IB=AICE? THANKS IN ADVANCE!

I don’t know much about the programs, but you must be smart to feel prepared for this. With a lot of work, you could handle it.

Note: I’ve taken Honors Bio, and it was actually pretty easy. It depends on your teacher, but we would read like 4 sections of a chapter a week, take notes, do a lab for each chapter and then one other assignment. It moved quickly but it wasn’t too much time out of class.

This looks a lot like my own sophomore year schedule:

AP European History
Algebra 2 Honors
Chemistry Honors
Spanish 3 Honors
English Lit Honors
Band

The classes gave me a bit of difficulty only because I gave myself difficulty and decided to procrastinate and not study at the same time. But the schedule is fairly easy. But that’s based on my school’s rigor, so yours will depend on your school’s, but given that the classes have the same rigor, you’ll be fine.
