This is my first year of college, but because of AP credits I have sophomore standing. Right now I have about 50 credit hours (including the classes I am taking right now), 35 of which are being counted towards graduation. I would like to transfer to another university, but I am unsure of when I should do that. Most of the universities I have been looking at say that they require you to spend two years at their university. If I am already being counted as a sophomore, does this mean I should be sending applications already next March (in order to attend next fall as a junior)? If this is the case, I’m afraid my transfer application won’t be very strong as I won’t have many extracurriculars, research experience, etc.
Of course there is also the issue of whether the university I am trying to transfer to accepts all of my credits or not. All of my APs are 4s and 5s so they should be able to count at most universities (although I know that the core requirements of universities may be different so some may be useless and that some have a cap on the amount you are able to take). I wouldn’t mind graduating “late” (which in my case would be in four years) according to the credits I have right now, so would that change anything?
So basically I was wondering if anyone has been a similar situation to me or could offer any advice? I’m definitely going to contact the universities themselves but I was just hoping to get a better understanding of my situation here first. Thanks!
