1) Eat more healthful foods/exercise
2) Crack open a textbook (often)/turn in essays on time/improve my study habits & GPA
3) Refrain from (contemplating) murdering my roommate
4) Stop spending so much money/get a ‘real’ job
5) Join more clubs/get to know people in my dorm better…socialize more, on the whole
6) Stop sleeping through my alarms/go to sleep at a decent hour
7) Develop better relationships with my professors/get an internship
8) Be consistent
9) Explore more of the city/participate in more cultural events/take more pictures
10) Get more free t-shirts/paraphernalia
11) Find Mark…

I guess I’ll do this since I need to set some expectations for myself.

1) Since I am going to be living in the dorms and I have a kitchen at my discretion (that I’m paying extra for), I need to fully utilize it.

1 - No fast food aside from on a special occasion or during the weekend. I’m going to cook, microwave, etc whatever I eat throughout the week.

2 - I’m going to try to eat more healthier this upcoming semester. I had breakfast at Burger King nearly every day, morning last semester. This is a no, no.

I’ll be eating cereal or french toast (home made ****) on a daily basis. Cereal is cheap and convenient and it’s healthy (Cheerios if you were wondering or some other bland brand haha).

3 - Make lots of new friends and acquaintances. I have loads of opportunities to make a **** load of friends. I made probably 20 new friends this past semester, but since I’m living on campus this time, I’m going to try to make as many acquaintances and befriend as many people in my dorm building, floor as well as in my classes.

Since I have 7 classes (5 lecs, 2 labs)- -that’s additional opportunity to make friends. I want to have at least a good friend in each one of my classes.

4 - I will try beer and smoke weed this semester. HAHAHAHHHAHA!

This if for the good 2 shoe kids. (Disregard this).

5 - Try to make friends with all 3 of my roommates (which shouldn’t be hard unless they’re anti-social, stupid, etc).

6 - Try joining a club maybe or immerse myself in some form of extra curricular activity.

7 - Gain 20 pounds or more, of muscle. Not fat of course. I want to weigh about 150 by the end of the semester.

8 - Play lots of basketball and other sporting activities (swim in the public pool) that is adjacent next to my dorm building. My dorm building has some tennis courts, basketball courts, and a swimming pool…I want to use these. Great place to enjoy myself and relax or even engage in a competitive pick up game of basketball.

9 - Make the Dean’s List for the 3 consecutive time. Get a 4.0 for once in my life. I came close this last semester.

10 - Try to make friends, get known by my professors. I usually do, but this year I’m going to try extra hard. I’m going to use office hours if I can to get close, even if I don’t have a true reason. IE ask a question that I truly can answer for myself, etc

11 - I want to get up early in the morning (6 AM or 7 AM is good). Eat breakfast and enjoy myself prior to descending for class (no rush).

12 - I want to read some of the books I have bought for recreational use.

13 - Be very conservative with money. Since I’m going to take out a loan for this semester, I’m going to be very prudent with my spending habits. I plan on getting a job in the Spring (as I won’t have as rigorous of a course schedule then to make some extra money and pay off the loan if I want to).

That’s it for now. I’ll be referring back to this though.

5) Don’t waste money. End of story.
[/quote]

This reminds me of another promise I need to make for myself!

Don’t spend all my money on food.

Seriously, it is quite sad to look at my account history and realize that almost all of what I spend is on food. I need to start eating breakfast at home.

Even though my school does have some really good biscuits and gravy…sigh I’m weak!

I really will try though, honestly!

Improve my overall health. Lower my blood pressure and get back into my high school cross country shape. Exercise isn’t a problem for me, but I need to stay away from the junk food.

STOP PROCRASTINATING. I always put things off until the last minute. I want to get things done ASAP so I don’t need to cram or turn in crappy assignment.

Good to see so many people determined to change for better lifestyles!

Soggy_Daisy: I couldn’t study in my room too (roommate, bed, other distractions) so I started studying in the library. Turns out that the first few weeks were very good until I brought my laptop along. Laptop with internet connection in library = death. I should try not to connect to the internet unless I absolutely have to.

I also want to make it a habit to wake up at around 7:30am-8am. This is a huge challenge since I’m a night owl. I get this sudden rush of energy at around 11pm-12am haha. Hopefully my rooommate will help me out on this once since he’s an early riser (he doesn’t need an alarm; he wakes up at 7am no matter when he goes to bed).

PROCRASTINATION - that one too. I was on top of things during the first 2-3 weeks of school (you know, “determined” freshman to do well in college…) and that determination soon died out. I’d barely do any readings because there were so much of them, ok papers, a lot of wikipedia, etc. Hopefully I’ll get my mind straight and stop wasting time.

muzicgirl89 - Right on on #7. I’m very ready to dress to the nines.

Study harder.

My goal has been consistent throughout all my years in College:

Find what I am looking for.

Become more involved in school activities.
Continue to emerge from the social shell that I had in high school.
More parties, more girls.
More As than A-'s or B+s.

stop procrastinating. really, this is my biggest vise

not let any trivial things distract me (stupid boys, etc)

be more wise with money. i’m an impulsive shopper and that needs to change this year

improve sleeping habits. i think i’m a pretty bad insomniac and i constantly went to bed after 3 am. not good

oh, and stop eating when stressed. i was really thin when i went to college and with finals, etc i gained a few pounds. luckily the summer has helped and i’ve returned to my normal weight, but i’ve learned my lesson lol

Lose the weight gained + lose even more!

Get my GPA up to a 3.7

Go to bed earlier (probably the most unrealistic goal on here, lol)

Party less

Study more

Lose weight. Oh yes.

Funny thing is I lose weight in college and gain it all back at home.

-get a job
-study ONLY in the library
-get my GPA up ^_^

Take better notes.
Start a club.
Play more intramural sports.
Review my notes after class.
Go in for profs office hours.
Be a more active participant in class.
Party hard(er).

This helps me as a freshman :)

the best advice is to take all advice seriously! i’m not a cocky person, but for one reason or another i didn’t think that college would be AS difficult as everyone in my family said it was… it IS hard, even if you’re used to advanced placement courses. study as much as you can and don’t take any course lightly until you’ve actually taken a test for that course… good luck!
