<p>I'm currently a freshman going to school at a CC. I'm hoping to transfer as a sophomore for Summer (any session) or Fall next year. Here's are grades, etc. </p>

College GPA: 3.5
ACT composite: 26
English: 28
Critical Reading: 31
Math: 20
Science: 25
Combined English/Writing: 26
SAT: 1830
Critical Reading: 680
Writing: 650
Math: 500
AP courses passed:
English Language: 3
English Literature: 4
College courses:
S1: Financial Acc, Stat, College Algebra, Intro to Business, Microcomputer App.
S2: likely to take: Managerial Acc, Env. Sci., Psych., Sociology, Tech. Communication
I will have 30 credits from the courses taken and up to 9 awarded for my AP scores.. Not so sure about the ACT and SAT scores awarding credit, but I have heard that they do that.
My mom went to FSU for Graduate school and my uncles also went there, so maybe legacy will have some effect on my admission decision?
I also have been convicted of DUI but have dealt with all the consequences, learned my lessons, and done everything the courts and justice system have required in a more than timely fashion.</p>
<p>The test scores are fine, but your HS GPA definitely hurts you. I don’t think FSU will care as much about the college GPA until you have an AA.</p>
<p>Wait until you finish your AA. With an AA and a 3.x college GPA, you should have no problem transferring. Transferring without an AA is notoriously difficult.</p>

I agree with you about the HS GPA, it is definitely not helping my case for acceptance, but FSU does state that it accepts Sophomore applicants who satisfy the Freshman requirements, which would be between 3.0 and 4.0. Obviously a 3.1 does satisfy that. Wouldn’t you think that they would pay more attention to my current college GPA and the difficulty of the courses?</p>

<p>Most Florida students accepted to the University present at least a 3.6 average in all academic subjects (grades 9 through 12) and test scores of at least 25 (composite) on the ACT or 1740 (total) on the SAT. </p>
<p>In addition to academic grade point average and test scores, a variety of additional factors are considered. These include an essay, the pattern and quality of courses and curriculum, grade trends, class rank, minimum subscores on the ACT or SAT, and educational objectives. </p>
<p>Applicants who bring to the University community other important attributes may also receive additional consideration. These applicants include students applying to CARE, visual and performing artists, and skilled athletes.</p>

Thanks for the info! Based on that, maybe I’ll be able to get my GPA to the average at the very least (aiming for a 3.75-3.85). Any opinion on my chance based on the grades and scores I have so far?</p>
<p>I think that coming in as a sophomore transfer (without an AA) requires that you qualify from both a high school performance level as well as your performance in your college course work.</p>
<p>Your college GPA meets the required 3.0-4.0 standard. Your high school GPA of 3.1 doesn’t appear to meet the standard of “at least a 3.6 average in all academic subjects (grades 9 through 12)”.</p>
<p>This dual requirement seems to comes into play for someone looking to transfer prior to achieving a AA degree.</p>
<p>Your test scores are ok and your college GPA to-date is very good. Your high school GPA doesn’t fit the bill. Does that eliminate you from acceptance? I don’t know.</p>

<p>Applicants With Less Than Sixty Semester Hours of Transferable Credit (As Evaluated by the Office of Admissions) Must:</p>
<p>Meet Florida State University’s freshman criteria (refer to the ‘Freshman Admission Requirements’ section of this chapter);</p>
<p>Have at least a 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) GPA on all college work attempted;</p>
<p>Have at least a 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) GPA on all college work attempted at the last institution attended, if more than one institution is attended; and</p>
<p>Have met the requirements for admission to their college/major.</p>
<p>Honestly, unless you were 100% positive you meet (and by meet, I mean significantly exceed) all of the requirements to transfer right now, I don’t know why you wouldn’t just wait and get your AA then transfer. </p>
<p>It’s really so much easier then. Plus, unless it has recently changed, if you get your AA from a community college in Florida, you are guaranteed admission to one public state university if you apply to at least 3 (it may not be your first choice, etc etc etc) or some other nonsense deal like that.</p>
<p>Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh. Disappointment is the first thing that comes to mind when I read these responses. But… Thanks for the feedback guys, I certainly will have more realistic expectations and be more prepared for the very possible idea of me not getting in for Summer 2012. </p>

I know I’ll most certainly meet the transfer requirements, its my not so stellar HS GPA thats gonna be my downfall haha. The AA certainly seems the best option, I suppose I’ll have to learn patience, but that takes time and I don’t want to wait! </p>
<p>Cliche: I’m just going to hope for the best and be prepared for the worst. It can’t hurt to apply… right?</p>
<p>Parent2noles does bring up a good option: If you are looking for a change of scenery as much as you are looking for a change in schools, TCC will at least get you into Tally. You can visit FSU while you’re there.</p>

I really like the idea of transferring to TCC! Because of my living situation right now though I wouldn’t be able to entertain that idea until Summer and by that time, I’ll have gone to two different colleges, St. Johns (SJRSC) and Sante Fe… Adding another college seems bad-ish. Do you think it matters?<br>
