<p>This question isn't for me. I've already done my 2 years at my CC and I've already applied. It's for my sister.</p>
<p>She's currently a junior in high school, but she's going to graduate this year (went thorough all her classes pretty fast) and will be going to a CC next year.</p>
<p>But what's holding her back is that she wants to go to UCLA (she's pretty sure her HS stuff won't do), but she heard they don't accept transfers unless your entering your junior year (she wants to go in as a sophomore).</p>
<p>So the question is, is there a way she can transfer after her frosh year at the CC? or should she aim for the 90 qrt units (she starts this winter and has crazy AP credit) and transfer as a junior (which she wouldn't want to do).</p>
<p>It's possible. But they do not give sophomore transfers priority, and they look MOSTLY at your high school record if you apply as a sophomore, which means that if she could not get in from high school than she might not get in as a cc sophomore transfer either. However, it would be a best to at least give it a try.</p>
<p>If she can complete 90 quarter units (60 semester units) before she transfer she will be considered a junior transfer. With AP credits this can be sometimes feasible.</p>
<p>But wouldn't her transcript be bare at the time of application since she would still be working on her semester? The admissions officers would have nothing to look at except for her high school grades.</p>
<p>no, not really. the consensus is that they look at the app after the jan. update. so that's at least one sem. also, in addition to her ap's and other college coursework completed during high school, there's the summer session before the fall sem that she could enroll in. all of this should be enough for admissions to consider.</p>
<p>hmm, I don't remember seeing an option on the application for sophomore level transfer. Is there? Maybe I missed it...</p>
<p>And she'll pretty much be at a CC starting spring quarter, but she really wants to be a soph transfer.</p>
<p>Yes, it was right there at the beginning bluearrowil. Anyways, if you were doing 60 units in one year than they would only have your grades for fall after the update. but my friend got in this way and I am doing the same thing. Just apply with a major that has a small amount of prereqs for the major so you can finish it.</p>
<p>The catch is that if she finishes 60 units within one year she will still be considered a junior transfer. If her goal is to spend three years at UCLA instead of two in order to get the full experience then this will not help her.</p>
