So this fall I will be attending a middle of the road Big Ten school that is in-state for me.
I'm happy with the school I guess, and I am not just dogging it because it is not the most prestigious school on the planet but I consider other schools that were definitely less prestigious but I had to kind of rule them out based on cost.

So who knows. I think I am going to like my school but I have to keep my options open. I am looking to major in Finance and Accounting and right now I am looking into trying to get a job on Wall Street or with one of the top consulting firms. This can be done with OSU Fisher, but it would be very difficult.

It would still be very hard even if I would get into UNC and then into Kenan-Flagler it would be difficult, albeit a bit easier.

My school is Ohio State and it is very similar to UNC. Big sports vibe, strong public flagships (albeit UNC has the edge overall and in most fields). UNC has the edge for business (being close to Charlotte is also a big plus), location (IMO), weather, like the campus setup/setting a little.

But a big part of me doesn't want to transfer. I will be a huge pain in the @$$ starting all over, and it will be harder to make friends as a sophomore opposed to being a freshman.

But I still think I owe it to myself to at least look at my options. I know most people will say stay at OSU and I haven't even starting there yet, but I want options.

Big thing that might weigh me down is cost. I'm not going to borrow exorbitant amounts of money to go to UNC. Right now I would have to borrow about 18,000 a year to attend UNC. If I can work that down to <10k, I would seriously consider and probably would go to UNC, but getting $8k in outside money will be no cakewalk. I think I can get it down though, plan on using fastweb and other resources to look for scholarship opportunities. I'm a military brat too which is helpful since there are a lot of scholarships available for us.

Fat chance I'll get any money in the form of merit scholarships from UNC as a transfer, right?

So how hard would it be to transfer sophomore year? I am OOS, does that makes as big a difference as a transfer student? Not really aiming for anything, but since I have a clean slate I am aiming for a 3.9-4.0 for now, and I think if I work hard enough I can reasonably expect a 3.8+.

But I'll have to wait and see. I know most people will say give OSU a shot, which I am, but I'd like to look around. It's taking me awhile to warm up to OSU, though I'm sure once I get on campus things will change.

thanks
