Sophomore year- Chemistry Honors or AP?

Here are the classes I'm sure on taking:

English II (or AP English, depending on what they'll choose since I still do not know)
Geometry
Biology
AP Euro
PE

Now I need to pick between these classes for my 6th:

AP Environmental Science
AP Psychology
AP Music Theory
Chemistry Honors

Would an AP class look better to universities, or the fact that I'm taking CHemistry--in my sophomore year? I know AP can higher my GPA but those APs are supposedly "easier."
Also it's not very common for Chemistry to be taken during sophomore year.

If they look at the rigor of the classes taken, which would help my schedule?

I was thinking that if I take PE 7th (if they allow me) then I could take two classes from the list above.

?
bump…

Neither ‘looks better.’ Do what makes sense given your personal goals and objectives. Our local public high offers AP chem to 9th and 11th graders, depending on how you want to sequence your sciences vs. the other AP classes. Or you can take Honors. I doubt schools are impressed with the order in which these classes are taken or if one honors vs. AP class is going to make that much of a difference to your final GPA.

Well don’t they look at the rigor of the classes taken?

Sophomores at my school aren’t taking Chemistry (Honors). That’s why I was thinking that that might look good.

I know that APs are important to take, though. My school has over 19 AP classes, but I could only pick from what I mentioned.
Should I take more from those APs or keep Chemistry and maybe take only one other AP (besides Euro)?

Yes they look at rigor, but one AP more or less isn’t going to make a difference. It’s the overall strength of your program that matters. Admin doesn’t have the time to do line by line comparisons of the transcripts of every kid who is a viable candidate - the key is whether your guidance counselor at school marks the ‘most rigorous available’ box for how rigorous you coursework was relative to your class-mates. If you are concerned, go talk to your guidance counselor about what is ‘typical’ among your peers and how he/she determines what is considered ‘most rigorous.’

Okay. That helped a lot. Thank you!
