Currently I am scheduling for my sophomore year of high school. I’m striving for a top-tier school and want to ensure I’m challenging myself sufficiently.
Honors English 10
AP US History
Honors Chemistry
Honors Precalculus
Honors Spanish 3
AP Economics (micro/micro)
Phys Ed
Band
Questions I have:
Would it be better to complete my school’s tech requirement this year instead of band? Is AP econ a good choice for a sophomore? How difficult will it be balancing this schedule and maintaining extracurricular activities and a strong GPA. Would self-studying AP stat (one of my parents is a stat professor) be a better idea?
There’s a difference between a rigorous course load, and an unmanageable one.
2 APs, and 4 honors? I’m not sure if that is the smartest idea
If you think you can do it, I say go for it. AP Economics is still an AP class, however it is one of the easier ones. APUSH is honestly cancer – if you can fit it into your schedule, take regular US history as a prerequisite.
And additionally,your school has a TECH ed requirement? I don’t know any other schools with that.
If you have handled hard classes with good grades in the past and have strong study habits, you’ll be fine with this schedule. AP history classes aren’t fun (at least for me, but their not imposible). I would keep band because it shows consistency in your high school schedule, but do make sure you have a plan for the tech requirement.
@MNballer19 my school has a tech ed requirement (technically its called career and technical education but yeah) don’t assume you know everything.
@snowfairy137
I was simply surprised by tech ed – I thought he meant something like woodshop was required. Yeah, most schools have a careers class or something like that. He could’ve worded it MUCH better
