Sophomore Year

My sophomore year I did great (grade wise), but I took some really easy classes.

French I:
Ok, the story on this one is long. I have always had a huge appreciation for French and I moved to this school this year, so I finally had room to take French! So I took it, and well, it was extremely easy (especially since being Fluent in Spanish helps a lot :D). I even got the department award for French language. :)

Beginning Weight Training/Intermediate Weight Training:
This new school I moved to required, besides Health/Personal Fitness, a PE class. So I decided to take this instead of Team Sports. I don't even do sports, but meh, thought it'd be easier. It was.

Study Hall (though marked as Critical Thinking and Study Skills):
This class was pure BS. We just did homework for other classes in it. It was like a free period, except we were confined to a room.

So, will that look bad? I could have taken a tougher courseload, but didn't realize it until it was too late because my counselor sucked...and hated me >_< .

I’m assuming you didn’t take only those three you listed.

Of course, whether your transcript will look “bad” will depend the colleges you’re applying too, as well as your opportunities.

Having multiple foreign languages looks GOOD. They won’t consider french 1 an easy class. SInce weight training is a requirement, you shouldn’t need to worry about that either. Your high school will send the colleges your applying to the graduation requirements. The only one you should be somewhat concerned about is study hall. If that was an elective, they may have thought that you couldn’t handle your course load so you needed extra time. However, it’s not a big deal. Don’t worry so much about it. Worry more about junior year!

I’m going to assume that you are aiming pretty high as far aas colleges. The short answer: Yes, it does look bad. The long answer: taking french is fine, and taking weightlifting is fine if you are required a PE class. However, a study hall is just not necessary.

Take harder classes junior/senior year, as they are the most critical in terms of what colleges will look at.

I would have replaced study hall with an AP class or something, but I don’t think your shedule is that bad. However, I recommmend a much tougher course load the next two years, because rigor of classes is uo there with rank and GPA(kind of).

It’s fine…but the information you gave is far to ambiguous and lacking to say anything final.
