Sororities at Boulder ?

Hey
I am applying to CU early admission and was wondering if anyone knew anything about their greek system? I am very interested in joining a sorority and would like some information from someone who is/was in it or knows someone currently in it. (:

Thank you !

Our son is a junior and pledged a fraternity his freshman year. He’s been very happy with his choice. The CU Greek system is very active, but it does not dominate the social scene, so if you choose not to join, your opportunities to meet people and do things isn’t inhibited.

From what I remember, there are 8-12 sororities. From what my son says, they are all very involved on campus, they do fundraising, do activities with the fraternities, etc. Typical sorority stuff. They are more expensive than the fraternities per year by quite a bit, I do know that much!!

Good luck!

i go to cu so i might be able to help. i know stereotyping sororities infuriates almost everyone on this site, but i’m going to do it anyways. keep in mind it’s a stereotype…

chi o- typically known as the best, although i’ve never meet a single girl in that house

pi phi- if you’re west coast they’ll like you. they’re known as the california house and rage hard. just know in advance a lot of those girls love their drugs- mostly e and coc

alpha phi- they’re cute, little, fun but typically ****wrecks… also the most shallow

dg- chill girls, party but they’re not as insane as alpha phi or pi phi (as a compliment)

kappa- wealthy, sometimes nice, into sisterhood/their house, but they don’t go out as much as the others… they have the highest gpa on campus so they’re the smart ones too

theta- this house really can’t be stereotyped… these girls are too quirky. i like a lot of theta’s i’ve met though. some years (pending on their last pledge class) they’re cool, others they’re weak… it depends

g phi- this is the best of the lower tear… i’ve met some really sweet girls in this house, but it’s kind of that house that you’re thrown into if you didn’t make the top five but not weird- a little bit of a surprising cluster ****

a chi o- almost a chi o… along with tri delt they won’t really cut anyone during rush

tri delt- the worst, these girls are typically chubby and slutty

a d chi- christian sorority

honestly, the greek system at boulder isn’t huge. if you’re in it you’ll probably like it, but honestly everyone who’s not a pi phi or kappa drops after their sophomore or junior year (seriously, look at senior pictures). rush and see if you like it. i hope this helps but keep in mind this is really vague and you shouldn’t rule out any of these houses before coming and meeting the girls. reputations change every year… (in exception to tri delt)

Wow, poster above me, you are definitely not in the CU sorority system! Hate sororities, esp. Pi Phi much?
By the way, it’s ‘tier’, not ‘tear’ and your stereotypes and generalizations are way off.
The truth is that ALL the sororities have smart, pretty, fun, wealthy, wild, chill, chubby, women. There isn’t a ‘Top 5’, in my opinion.
