Sororities at USC vs. Berkeley

Well, good luck..but, just a small word of advice (not trying to bash, what so ever)

It might be good to consider other factors when choosing between these two universities. Greek life is going to be a blast at either school, so let's get that over and done with. You've got two fine choices.

In any case, maybe I'll see you in the fall (for rush! hehe)

<3,

USC and Cal are very different universities, have you visited them both? Berkeley takes a certain type of person to succeed and enjoy the experience. That said, I would choose Cal over USC any day, simply because of the interesting opportunites that are out there to take advantage of, and Berkeley and the Bay Area > Los Angeles. Of course this is just my opinion though, good luck with the decision!

While USC fraternity and sorority life is big and flourishing, the social scene outside of the greek community is pretty dull, for the most part

You're definitely wrong with that statement. I am not involved with a frat and I know many people who aren't. Yet we all seem to have a good time, parties and all.

USC v Cal
Both a great opportunities with a very different feel to to the campus. In a nutshell, I would say Cal feels more blue collar and USC feels more yuppie...not trying to stereotype negatively, but there is simply a different feel to the campus and the student body.

We had kids with offers to each school and the huge price difference is a large factor, depending on your personal scholarship/aid situation, it could be a tremendous financial difference. I would suggest a visit to each school to see which feel more comfortable.

I know kids in sororities at each school and probably USC is a bit more "traditional" big deal, popular girl in flavour and Cal is more accepting of all kinds of people and their differences. But that is only a snapshot, you will find the gamut from "plastic" girls to "granola" girls at each place. Visit them and find YOUR match.

redski - that is what i gathered when visiting friends. i just think berkeley has a more multi faceted social experience.

Sure, Cal simply feels more 'real' imo.

im deciding between usc and berkeley too! crap i feel like just tossing a coin. i hate bay area though.

me too... I like USC campus much much better and i like the idea of being in LA... but i don't know which school i like better. i change my mind at least once every day :)

This question would make more sense if it were UCLA vs Cal. While Cal may be considered the more "prestigious" school, UCLA clearly dominates in the Greek/Social department.

USC has hot girls. Maybe even hotter than UCLA. I'm not going to say anything about Cal, haha.

Oh and if UCLA creams Cal Greek-wise, then USC just absolutely slaughters them. The Greek system is much more integral to the USC social life.

Shakes Head

Sigh.....it's quite unfortunate that just because the university wins in the prestige department, it's automatically labeled as a socially inferiour school. Personally, I have never had a dull weekend here at Cal. The Greek Community may not be the end-all decision you can make socially, but it clearly has a dominant presence, and offers a similar entertainment outlet.
