sororities

DG and kappa hate their new pledge classes...they have been talking so much **** about them and saying **** like they dont want to mix because they dont want anyone to see their ugly pledges...this isnt my opinion its just what ive heard from tons of ppl and older DG and kappa girls. The computer put their choices in like 6th and 7th so they got the end of the list and theta, tridelt and achio got the cute girls

I'm not sure how they'd know the computer did that, but whatever. They should have had decent people final round, regardless of what a computer might have done to their bid list.

yeah newname im in zbt... we had an axo mixer last night which was a ton of fun. a lot of nice attractive girls there too.

dria i have friends who have mixed with DG and they said the girls were all great looking. they could have been referring to the older girls but i doubt the majority of the freshman are anywhere close to being ugly.

fair enough....it was just what i heard

I might have seen you last night then, Jason. I was hovering around the turkey baster.

hahaha guess the uglies are taking over dg and kkg

I heard that aopii got a really nice and cute pledge class.

spanks i was in that room for quite a bit, it is definitely possible

theres only about 12 in their pledge class, i know someone that decided they wanted to be in it and they called the rush chair i guess and got a bid in 2 days.

Can someone confirm the # of pledges aopi got and tell me what quota was? I was trying to find the numbers online and stumbled across this chat--I am curious--I was in aopi when I went to Cornell-they were a "medium" house then (always got quota while I was there) It's sad they have gone downhill . . .. Of course, alpha phi was the worst sorority back then so shows you how much things have changed since I was there ('93-'97).

they got 12, which is like a little more than 1/3 of what most sororities get. As for their quota, I don't know.

Quota this year was 38, I believe. I think houses were allowed up to two over quota. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Oldalum, there are 11 people in the AOPi pledge class group on facebook, which probably includes the pledge mom.

I don't understand how sororities raise themselves in status over the years. If a sorority has a bad repuation year after year, how does it get a better reputation? I would assume by getting prettier/nicer girls but how can you achieve that if you have a bad rep to begin with?

from what ive heard, a proven success is having two separate rooms during rush. one for pretty girls and another for ugly girls.

its all reputation, obviously about 25 or so girls turned down their bid, and i know that two of them for a fact were due to reputation only, but there's probably a whole lot more than that. it's kind of sad, some of them are really nice pretty girls

Doesn't it bother you that it is 2007, you are all in college on your way to becoming professional women in the world and you are all judging one another ON HOW PRETTY,CUTE,UGLY, OR SCAREY you think each other are. Do you not see how wrong this entire thread is? AARRRGGGHHHHHHHH

Thanks for the aopi information.

It is sometimes difficult for houses to improve their reputation--seems easier for it to go downhill. I'll tell you what alpha phi did. They had terrible pledge numbers every year I was there. They would COB all year, but still had a small house (this really hurts because a house will have problems staying afloat without enough dues-paying members). My senior year/year after they gave ALL their members, even those who had just pledged, alumni status. Basically they realized the girls who were in the house were just not able to get enough new girls to join the house, alumni status meant they were no longer active collegiate members and would not be responsible for rushing. Then the next rush they got help from a bunch of local, strong aphi chapters (SUNY Cortland, Binghamton) and had those women basically present aphi like it was a newly chartered house (they kept the physical house the whole time). This strategy really worked because now they are apparently strong. If they had not had other strong chapters nearby, they probably would have had to leave campus.

Unfortunately, there are always a couple of houses that have trouble getting numbers. After alpha phi rejuvenated itself, 2 houses, ChiO and DPhiE, who were having trouble already, were forced to go off campus due to low numbers. DPhiE had just colonized when I was a freshman, so they only lasted about 10 years. You can see how one house improving status and 2 others leaving campus could make a "medium" house like AOPi fall lower on the totem pole--like you said it's then difficult to recover.

I don't really care what the girls in the houses look like--but it is kind of sad that something that was a big part of your college experience can go away. The ChiO girls going to their 10 year reunion this year have no house to go back to, for example (Sammy is in their old house). AOPi bought the old Theta Chi house, which was a very strong fraternity when I was there. I don't know what happened to them.

theta chi as in theta delta chi as in theta drug? yeah..

sax- why were you reading a sorority thread expecting it to be a highbrow intellectual and stimulating debate of the respective merits of each house? please...

oldalumnae- what alpha phi did was super drastic...did their nationals take over and make that decision or what?
