princess--about your question a couple days ago--I'm sure Alpha Phi's national played a big part in their decision to do what they did, but the Cornell chapter would still have had to make the decision to go forward, so, I give them a lot of credit they basically sacrificed their pride and their own good time for the good of the chapter--Happy for them that the house is so successful now.

Anyway, there was a question about FIJI back in the day so I'll just mention the "best" houses during the grunge era--hmm, let me get my flannel shirt out so I can remember.

Top Sororities: ('93-97): PiPhi, DG, AEPhi, Kappa, SDT (if Jewish)
Medium: AChiO, Theta, KD, AOPi (AChiO and Theta maybe slightly better perceived)
Medium-Low: Tri-Delt (but got better by my senior year), DPhiE (no longer there)
In Trouble: ChiO (no longer there); Alpha Phi

Top Frats: Chi Psi, ATO, PhiDelt, Sigma Nu (athletic houses); Alpha Delt,
Psi U, Sigma Chi (money houses); Theta Chi, PIKE (mostly Jewish)
Medium: FIJI, SAE, Phi Psi, Rockledge, Chi Phi, ZBT, DU, Phi Sig, some others
Medium-Low: SigEp, Sammy, Llenroc, DKE, some others
Low: TEP, TKE, Acacia, Zeta Psi, others

FIJI, by the way, was one of those medium houses that nearly all the sororities mixed with. Good group of guys fairly diverse.

By the way none of this really matters. The only time it does is when you meet someone like 5 or more years older or younger than you who went to Cornell and was in a frat or sorority, and you mention your house or they mention theirs. They of course think time has stood still and perceive the house as it was when they went to school. (But of course it doesn't matter as much once you're all out of school, anyway--just like being the "cool kid" or "nerdy kid" in high school doesn't translate into how you are the rest of your life)
