sororities

what would be the best sorority and does it make sense for an international student (caribbean) to join?

Hi Daviaa,

First of all, I would like to ask you what are you plan on majoring in? Next, if it’s Business, I would recommend Delta Sigma Pi for Business Majors or Alpha Kappa Psi if you are a non-business major. These are Business Fraternities and are co-ed. They are both very good and focus on Community Service and have social events. They are Professional Fraternities. Now, I asked one of my friends and she recommends Delta Delta Delta. If you plan on joining a Sorority, do research. See if it’s a good fit for you. A lot of them do Community Service Events throughout the Community. Like a week or so ago, there was a Fraternity on Campus that was raising money for our Troops. Now, joining a Sorority or the Business Fraternity is equivalent to taking a 3 Credit Hour course. It can be very busy. I will recommend you to check out: [UCF Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life](http://ucfgreek.com) as it gives you some valuable information about the various Sororities on Campus. My main advice for you regardless if you join a Business or Non-Business Fraternity or a Social Sorority is to get involved as much as you can. Getting good grades is great and all, but you want to meet new people, get involved, and have fun. You only live life once and at College, you can make the best of it. When it’s time to apply for Scholarships or whatnot, they might asked whether you were involved or not and some Career offers ask if you were involved, held leadership roles, etc…

Good Luck,

I would definitely say that it makes sense to join a sorority, no matter where you are from. From personal experience, I have found it to be the best decision I have made so far in my college career.

Referring to your question of what the ‘best’ sorority to join is… That is a question no one can really answer. Every sorority is different in their own ways and the only way to see which one is the best for YOU is to go through recruitment in the fall. During that time you’ll get to meet girls in all 10 of the chapters on campus and through a mutual process (both with what you want and what sororities want you) you will end up in a sorority, that is hopefully the right one for you. Every sorority on campus has amazing girls, though.

I hope this helps. Even if you end up deciding not to join a sorority, I would definitely recommend going through recruitment… It is a hectic and somewhat stressful week, but definitely worth a try.

If you are interested in joining a sorority, remember that sorority recruitment is 1 week BEFORE Fall classes start. It’s a week-long process and will give you a chance to meet ALL of the sororities and the girls. Keep an open mind and enjoy the process.

If you need to move into your dorm a week early for sorority recruitment you can, there is a fee though.

here’s a helpful link [UCF Panhellenic](http://www.panhellenicucf.com/)

here’s info about moving into your dorm early for sorority recruitment: [Housing and Residence Life | Move-in Information](Move-In • Housing and Residence Life • UCF)

Good luck!

Just go to the recruitment and you’ll find one you like. Some of them are more active than others, and a couple of them (if I remember correctly) have housing on campus. I have a friend who is in Alpha Delta Pi and she loves her sisters and is always doing stuff with them–they have one of the nicest looking houses on Greek Row. My boss at a former job was also in that chapter a few years ago and is still friends with many of her sisters.
