Bid list for 2010 Recruitment. Over 1600 PNMs started the week!
1398 girls accepted bids…most of the pledge classes are 90 plus girls!

“Bid Day” aka “Squeal Day” was everything I had heard it would be. I have seen a number of Bid Days at various campuses, but nothing like this! Thousands of people lined the streets and cheered while the new pledges squealed and ran from the stadium to their new houses with their respective groups. The sorority actives cheered, chanted and sang as they waited for and welcomed their new members. I am glad I got to see it for myself. It was quite a spectacle!

Does everybody who makes it to Bid Day get a bid?

I heard it was the biggest recruitment class ever !!

Unfortunately, not everyone who makes it to Bid Day gets a bid, but the percentage of those receiving bids is extremely high. The PNMs (Potential New Members) are required to be in their dorm room for a couple of hours before Bid Day begins and the Recruitment Counselors come notify them if they did not receive a bid.

They did say it was the largest recruitment class ever at any school!

There were lots of girls there when we moved son in for Alabama Action. And most of the girls at our local Send Off party were moving up early for rush. Hope they all had a good time and if they didn’t get into their house of choice, they still have a great year at Bama!

*thanks- right now- Auburn *

If I remember correctly, your D hasn’t gone on a Bama campus and honors tour. Will you be encouraging her to do so?

I’ve tried but she isn’t interested-

LOL…well, you could bargain with her…

My daughter had a great rush week, and was invited to all her favorites all week. She is a proud pledge member of Alpha Chi Omega. I highly recommend getting recs, having a lots of high school EC’s and honors, and of course, good hs grades. It’s a great greek environment at UA if that’s your interest.

momofonlyone was right, the streets were full of frat guys, actives, and parents, all there to welcome the new members. I can’t image what a football game weekend is like on Colonial and Magnolia Drives.

Well, that just makes me feel even more for the rejects. Imagine being rejected by a college with a 95% admissions rate.

I think you mean a Greek system with a 95% admission rate. the school does not have a 95% admit rate. LOL

And, you have to realize that typically those who don’t get a bid either dropped out or “suicided”.

Catfan - my D also pledged Alpha Chi Omega!

That’s why I said “imagine.” Geez, I was just trying to make a comparison.

I specifically wondered if everybody who makes it to Bid Day gets a bid. I imagine anybody staying in the recruitment process believes that have a chance at a bid.

Someone who “suicides” doesn’t put in a second choice…which can result in “no bid.” And, yes, some stay in til the end and drop out at the last minute. those girls just go thru to make new friends.

Oh, okay, that makes sense. I just feed bad for anyone who thought they would get a bid but doesn’t.
