Sorority Housing?

So I am a sophmore transfer at cornell right now, and I am considering rushing this spring. But right now, most of my friends and I in the process of getting an apartment in collegetown for next year. I know that most of the new members of the sororities and frats tend to live in their house for the following year, but is it required? I don't want to go and sign a lease for a place in collegetown if I am going to be required to live in the sorority house next year. Any advice?

certain houses require it, other houses will charge you a fine, some houses don't...I'm not sure where you'd find the specific policies, but I'm sure they're accessible.

yeah same situation with me except for frats. anyone know which frats have no problem not living there especially for sophomores rushing. it would be greatly appreciated
