Neither my husband nor I were in Greek life. My daughter is a freshman at Boston University and to her surprise, she now believes she wants to join a sorority. We think it would be a good thing, as well, for life-long connections, social events, community service, and support. She is a pre-med/science student, a serious student, though very personable, articulate, and friendly (once she gets to know people). She is remotely thinking Kappa Delta or Tri Delta (Delta Delta Delta). BU is a serious school, 16,000 undergraduates, private, so she’s looking for a “home” so to speak. Overall, she likes BU very much. Thank you!
The personality of the sororities can vary a great deal from college to college. IMO any information about the personality/vibe of a specific sorority should come only from people at BU.
Your D will have a chance to visit the different sororities as she goes through the rush process and the landing spot is a matter of mutual selection. It is probably best that she goes through the sorority rush with an open mind and sees how things play out.
As an aside my D surprised us and joined Tri Delta at Lafayette College and it proved to be a very positive experience – she is a serious student as well and found that being part of this sorority added to her college live.

You’ll find links to every sorority at BU. It can be helpful to look each sorority’s website in advance because they tend to blur together in the craziness of the first day of recruitment.
Don’t go into rush thinking of only two sororities. It’s about finding where you belong and feel at home, so she should go through rush with an open mind so she can find the best fit for her. It’s a mutual thing, they have to like her and she has to like them.
