Sorority Life

Is it really as time consuming as everyone says? I'm planning on rushing and pledging, getting a part time job (around 20 hrs/week) and maintaining a serious relationship. So my question is, how much time a week is a sorority going to take up? Is this even a good decision?

after you mentioned part time job…it will be time consuming. you will probably be busy everyday. like you have sorority meetings lets say on thurs. so you make sure you don’ work on thurs., you work on mon-fri (excl. thurs). then you want to spend time with your partner on your free time…yep it’s time consuming, but very possible.

I’m just worried I won’t have enough time to relax and study!

it’s all about time management.
maybe you would like to schedule some classes close together so you’ll have to relax and study before you go to work or something. or some sorority meeting.
also try and give yourself a day off or something. so you’ll have time relax and catch up if needed.
people do this all the time, you just have to be organized and manage your time well or it will be stressful.

I’m in a sorority and I don’t think being Greek eats that much into my weekday schedule. The only official thing going on most weeks is chapter meeting, which is pretty short. I also work part-time as well and have other things going on. I still find that I have more than enough time to sit on my butt and catch up on TV.

Even though I’m a guy and in a fraternity, I second icanread’s comment. The only thing that I can think of that would take a lot of your time since it is mandatory would be chapter. If it’s voluntary it would probably be your participation in philanthropy events and athletic events. Pledgeship doesn’t take as much time as everyone says it does to be honest. It really is all about time management. College in general is about time time management.
