Sorority reps?

Hey I was wondering if anyone could provide a little insight into BU’s greek life, sorority reputations, etc? Any information would be much appreciated!

BU’s greek life is about 10% of the student population. You can definitely get involved and have a lot of fun, but people not involved in Greek Life (i.e. the other 90%) get along just fine. BU is not the type of school where you have to go Greek to have a life. It’s a large university.

I actually rushed my freshman year and received a bid, but ended up dropping the sorority because it was too many commitments for things that weren’t that important to me, like wearing certain color shoes and memorizing my sorority’s history. I guess it was because I wasn’t too involved yet, but the friendships seemed really forced. It was a lot of judgment over a couple of days, which I guess is true for every Greek system in any school.

The good thing is, BU only allows girls to begin recruitment their second semester of freshman year, so you can see if Greek life is really what you want.

All of the girls seem like they have fun, though. It really depends on the specific individual.

I wouldn’t focus on the reputations. Each sorority is different in it’s own way, as are the girls in them
