I'm pretty sure I want to rush in the fall, so I was wondering about the reputations of some of the sororities.

Kappa Kappa Gamma
Delta Gamma
Alpha Phi
Theta
Pi Phi
Gamma Phi

Thanks!

All sororities at UCLA are great, have wonderful philanthropies, and do numerous events with fraternities. It is very important that you go into rush with an open mind. You will be your happiest in the sorority you feel comfortable with, not the sorority with the best (or worst) “reputation”.

KKG is the hottest

Those are basically all of the top/middle tier houses

Honestly, reputation is going to vary from person to person. Sorority (and fraternity) reputations are by no means something agreed upon across the board at UCLA.

Here are my impressions:
DG - I don’t know any DG girls personally so all I can comment on is their ridiculous salute. Makes them kind of a joke among non-Greeks IMO
Pi Phi - Nice but kind of slutty. They party really hard. Guys love Pi Phis because they’re easy.
KKG - I know one Kappa who is nice and one who is incredibly stuck up.
Gamma Phi - They seem pretty nice.

So as you can see, most peoples’ impressions are going to be based on who they know in the house, and word of mouth. These just happen to be my personal experiences with girls in these houses. If you really care that much about reputation, don’t rush. Just as some people might view certain houses less favorably, some will outright stick a “sorority girl” label on you without even getting to know you first. (To be perfectly honest, I am guilty of this sometimes.) Rush if it’s something you want to do, and while it is good to know the reputations, don’t let other people make your decisions for you.

I took a year to stay away from greek life to get a feel for the sororities before I went through rush. SO glad I did. I partied with girls from almost every sorority and this was my take on each house. I put them in order in accordance to my personal preference.

Alpha Phi: All of the girls are gorgeous but they’re not catty at all! A lot of these girls are on the dance/cheer team or in theatre and a cappella. They’re pretty well known around campus because they’re really active girls who also know how to have a damn good time. Love this house.

Delta Gamma: Fun, free-spirited girls. Known to be a little sloppy and loose cannons but fun nonetheless. Genuine sisterhood. Little drama.

Theta: A mix between Kappa and DG. My friend is in this house and they got into a lot of scandals last year for dirty rushing. Decent house. Lots of athletes and legacies.

Kappa Kappa Gamma: Hot girls with really bad personalities and reps. All of them secretly hate each other and they all gossip like none other. This is definitely the catty house of greek row.

Gamma Phi: REALLY sweet, genuine girls. Very similar to Chi Omega, which is also a really cute house.

Pi Phi: Trashy, classless girls. ALL of the frats say the same thing about them: “easy”.

In order by my preference (I’m not in a house but have friends in each of these houses and I’m using what they say/what i’ve seen):

Delta Gamma: Super free-spirited girls who are not involved in drama, FUN, all genuine and honest, slutty pledge class last year (:/) but the girls are all wonderful and dimensional with many interests, they love to party

Kappa Kappa Gamma: They are pretty girls but have nothing going on upstairs, they have LOTS of drama with one another and love to gossip, CATTY, but had a great b=pledge class last year.

Alpha Phi: Veryyyy pretty girls that are mostly performers, active, a little stuck up, not that much sisterhood, cool

Theta: they are really big on dirty rushing, Decent house, but going downhill they had a bad pledge class and are pretty boring

Chi O: cute girls who are smart and nice

Gamma Phi: Really nice girls who don’t get involved in drama

Pi Phi: EASY. pretty trashy girls

^ Which one of these involves a 13 second beatdown?

is there any hazing at ucla for sororities?

Do all the girls just join whichever sorority suits them best?
