Sorority Rush - What to wear? HELP

What do you wear on the first days? Can you wear flat boots? If there's a lot of snow, can you just wear flat boots from sorority to sorority, or is it advisable to change? Where do you change?

Should you bring a big bag to carry your boots? Should you also bring a purse? Do girls bring "designer" purses, or is that looked down upon?

Do you wear dress pants for business casual day? or can you wear a skirt?

Can anyone share things that worked and didn't work in terms of rush clothing? Any other hints for rush?

Thank you!

I don't understand one bit of what you wrote.

Rush starts January 1. On the first and second days, we are expected to wear casual clothes. I assume that means jeans and I've read in other threads that girls wear jeans and flat shoes, and I have also read that girls change from snow boots to flats in the event of bad weather. I was wondering if you could avoid the change and just wear flat boots?

I was also wondering what girls have worn in the past for the "business" days. Lastly, I was hoping someone who has gone through this process would be willing to share their experience.

I hope that clears things up? I thought what I said made sense, but maybe not.

rush starts the 12th with a mandatory meeting, not the first.

You're right dande - sorry about that. Rush starts the 12th. Can anyone help with my questions? Thanks.

I think that Hallowarts is being facetious.

You can insert a similarly inane comment about Princeton's bicker process here.

I wish I could say that you can wear whatever you deem appropriate and you will not have to worry about anything, but unfortunately that's not the case.

idk where you're getting your information from, but it is advisable to wear a toga. a desginer toga and Grecian-style flip flops, to be precise.

first day of rush: wear jeans and a nice sweater or blouse with flats, or flat boots are fine. If it's snowing, you might want to wear snow boots and change when you get to each house (yes you will have time to do this), but if not, then you can walk from house to house in your flat boots. You will be doing a lot of walking though, so make sure they are comfortable!

Do you have to walk, or can you take cabs?

why don't you tell me. do you think taking a cab is going to show them the kind of commitment they want to see?

They usually have buses running between certain areas, but you really only have 15 minutes or so to get between houses and the bus might not come right away or it might be full. Everyone else will be walking and for the first round, I'm pretty sure your whole rush group goes to the same houses. It's just easier to go from house to house together as a group. Cabs would just not work. You won't know your schedule until that morning and you just don't have the time to call for a cab and wait for it. Also, if you get lucky, you might end up going to houses really close to one another in a row (like dg, kd, tridelt or kkg and alpha phi). If you really don't want to walk, then a cab may be useful when you have to go to theta because it's all the way on west campus, but you have to plan ahead for that. Wear your uggs, carry your heels or flats, then change your shoes really fast while you line up outside.

You really don't need a cab to get around....the only time I barely made it to a house on time was when I needed to get from alpha phi on north to theta on west.

my rush group got a Hummer stretch limo.

whats rush..?

A Canadian rock band originally formed in August 1968, in the Willowdale neighbourhood of Toronto, Ontario.

for clothing- just make sure you look good and don't wear anything weird

for the casual days a good idea is dark jeans and a nice top/sweater with cute flats. People usually wear boots when walking outside and bring their inside shoes in a bag then change right outside the house.

House tour round you will walk around the house so make sure you can walk in your shoes lol. Nice pants or a skirt is fine.

always bring a change of shoes. YOU WILL FREEZE/BE IN SO MUCH PAIN if you dont. usually girls just walk around in their uggs and then everyone changes outside right before they are let in.

first day: dark jeans, nice sweater
second day: dark jeans, nice sweater

think a casual dinner with your friends

remember, first day and second day is the same round, where you go and see all of the houses for the first time

third day (house tour): dressy pants, nice sweater, skirt

think dinner with your family in a nice restaurant

fourth day (skit round): definitely a skirt

think family holiday party, religious services, etc.

fifth day (FINAL ROUND): formal dress

think formal dance at school (not prom like though)...cocktail dresses are fine

something else important to note, YOU ARE NOT DRESSING LIKE YOU ARE GOING TO A FRAT PARTY! we are girls, we dont want to see excessive cleavage or butt hanging out. if you have any doubts about your outfit, dont wear it. while you are home, i would pick out your outfits now so you dont spend too much time the night before or morning of a round. i did this when i went back to school before rush started...i took pictures of potential outfits on my phone and asked my mom and other friends for advice. look cute. dont feel the need to wear all the name brands plastered all over your body. and dont dress to be someone you arent. be who you are and that will make you the happiest. putting on a fake facade will land you in a sorority that you will later find was not meant for you. also, dont get stuck on only wanting to be in one house. IF YOU KEEP AN OPEN MIND, YOU WILL ACTUALLY ENJOY THE RUSH PROCESS!

How can you follow this:

I have no comment.

If anyone thinks job interviews are any different than sorority rush...
