Sorority Rush - What to wear? HELP

yes

designer labels do not matter. you are being "judged" mostly on your personality and whether you "fit" in the particular sorority. you can wind up looking like a million bucks in an outfit from the sale rack or like trash in an outfit that cost over $300. no sorority cares that jane smith walked in with a dress plastered with the chanel logo and prada shoes whereas jane doe did not. it doesnt give jane smith "brownie points" because she appears to be rich. you should look good and CONFIDENT in whatever you are wearing. if you feel uncomfortable in what you are wearing, you will give off a vibe that you feel that way

would a cute belted dress with peep toe heels be okay for business casual or is that too formal?

You all seem to know a lot about rush! Can you rush as a second year? I am transfering to Cornell in the Fall.

you can rush as a transfer. i would wait until the formal spring rush, though, because not only does it allow you to first get acclimated to cornell but it gives you the most options of sororities to look at. only the sororities who dont make quota participate in fall rush

Thanks CUAmbassador11!

I could probably help you or just mock you but in case it hasn't been said:

Black Leggings
Uggs
A North Face Jacket

And talk about "The Hills". A lot.

are nice black pants ok for business casual or are they weird?
do many people wear them?

yes black pants are fine
yes many people wear them

im probably going to be wearing them too

do you mean black slacks? do you think a pair of black velvet sevens (fitted with with a bootcut type bottom) would work?

i think that any pair of cords or slacks will work fine

wear dark jeans for the first two days

Just be tight

checked the weather report for ithaca...typical rush weather--cold and snowy. just a reminder and a very strong suggestion: wear a pair of boots while you are walking around and keep your nice shoes in a bag

I think all this rush business is... a little excessive.
I mean, God forbid you don't have Uggs.

the people who state you need to wear Uggs are being facetious, ChandlerBing.

rush for girls is typically their hardest time, while pledging for boys is their hardest time.

i did say boots- i did not specify uggs. uggs are actually not that great in ithaca...they keep your feet warm while its dry but they are not waterproof in slush!

the snow should be... interesting. Should be bring a nice purse to carry our boots/shoes in, or does "bag" mean an actual plastic bag from a store is ok? Thanks for the help!

When we're in the room will there be a place to put our coats? i was also wondering if for the casual days would it be okay to wear dark grey jeans, black boots and a nice sweater? Thanks for the help!

dammn i hope this thread was a joke.

My daughter went back 2 days ago to get ready for the rush. I haven't heard from her since she went back. I want to know what she could possibly be doing. I have called and texted, but no reply. If CUA11 had time to post...

BDBB - this is no joke. She had all her outfits planned out for each day. I vaguely remembered something about clothes check, not exactly sure what she meant.

Wow... is pledging as painful-sounding as rush?
I mean, I have one pair of year-round shoes and one pair of sandals.
And that's it!

Oh and I see about the Uggs, my bad.
