Sorority

Hey! is there anyone there in a sorority? i'm thinking about joining one when i go to college, but i wanna hear from someone in a real sorority (or a frat, all opinions are apreciatted)
what they think. Are you enjoing? thanks x

I’m in a fraternity and I love it. My gf is in a sorority and she loves it as well. It’s a great way to meet new people, do community service, and focus on academics. Do you have any other specific questions about them?

There aren’t too many people who are in fraternities or sororities that don’t like it.

Going greek can be the best or worst decision you make, if you can handle the extra work and the social life then by all means do it. But if you don’t think you can take your time with the decision.

BTW, don’t go into rush with a pre-conceived notion based on movies and hazing stories. Obviously they’re mostly false

I’m in sorority and, for the most part, it has been a good experience. Now, my experience has been a little different because I am in a locally recognized organization that is currently in the process of being picked up by a national sorority, so that sometimes keeps us a little busier than we would like, which causes the drama to run high at times. However, if you are looking at organizations who are already nationally recoginized or are staying locally recognized for the forseeable future, than it should be a good time for you. (NOTE: Do NOT join any off campus organization that your college/university does not recognize in any way. There are no limitations on what you could endure physically and emotionally as a new member or initiated sister.)

Anyway, I enjoy it. You meet tons of people, do community service that you can actually enjoy, and the time management and self-disicpline that develops naturally does help you academically. The parties are great and some of your sisters will be your friends for the rest of your life. Sorority life has been one of the best things to happen to me in a long time; I tend to be on the quiet side, so meeting my sisters and other greeks has really opened me up and given me a lot of confidence in all areas of my life. I don’t regret doing it one little bit.

^off campus, isn’t it called a gang?

“^off campus, isn’t it called a gang?”

LOL.

My roommate is in a sorority and she said the pledges had to stand inside of a building, with all the doors and windows closed and scream this chant so the upperclassmen could hear it three blocks away.

Sounds like fun. :D

And deafening…My point was just that all of the recognized greek organizations at my school strictly follow no-hazing policies. You’re always informed of what you’ll be doing and there’s no risk of campus or city police showing up.

lets just say, sorority girls definitely have a reputation.
whether that’s good or bad, you can decide.

“Pledged” an talk to sorority members…

Gex: No Gex, i don’t. But thanks !
Nigiri: Ok, thaks.
Frostburg2010: Thank you very much, that’s really helpful :)

Look up the movie “sorority row” and then get back to us

hahahahahhaha

read the book pledged it will tell you everything you want to know !

Not necessarily true.

Sorority Life…hmmm…can’t wait =D

OO I also wanted to say that I think its best to go into a sorority with the right heart…community service, giving back, being selfless

are you binded if you become a part of the frat? I mean, if you realize you can’t handle it, can’t you just leave it?

^^^

Yes I hope UT, but almost always you can’t then go join another one.

i’ve been thinking about joining a sorority too
but i still don’t know
