~oh yeah and i babysit over the summers 3 days a week for the past few years.

Ok, sorry its long, but I hope someone will make it though because im really hoping wondering what my chances are for Brown, maybe PLME. I know that my SATs aren’t stellar but my essays will be really great, and im getting a really personal, great rec from my English teacher that should be pretty compelling. i will retake the SATs in october and im expecting math to go up significantly, and i should have around a 2250 with that improvement and a better essay on writing ( i froze up last time). and im thinking maybe girl scouts can be a hook? there aren’t that many people who have done it for that many years, and i have been really involved in it, so maybe that will count for something.

Thanks for any advice! :)

bumpity bump.

19 views and no responses? i know its long, but still...

i hate to bump this again, but i really need some advice :)

Well I think you have a chance I guess. You've stated that your family income is less than 50k. I remember somewhere that Brown is need-blind, so that factor won't help you. I think PLME likes it when there's medical related stuff on your transcript such as research, hospital work, to show you're interested in medicine, but I don't see much of that. You can make it into Brown without PLME. Your SATs, ECs, and grades are great.

thanks for the response. this summer im volunteering at a hospital for most of july and august, and that wellness policy thingy was medical related (its why they chose me), so im hoping maybe that might show enough interest to have a shot at plme, especially if i get my SAT scores up.

any other opinions?

come on, bump!

Brown is need blind???? Whoa Yes!! Jack Pot......today is a good day

do you even know where you're applying, taekwondo?

i wonder with you amor

he seems like if no PLME, then HYPSM

In response to lux perpetua43,

If you´re really interested, you´re welcome to read what I and other other people have written on desichick´s thread, which also discusses plme chances.

You have good scores, good grades, lots of volunteer experience. So if your passion is to help others, if you absolutely love helping others, I´m sure this trait will shine through in your rec letters and essays. It has already done so through your myriad of activities. But just for my own enlightenment, 5000 hours of volunteering via girl scouts?

So I have to disagree with schrizto on the must-have clinical experience. You´re welcome to read my opinion on this on desichick´s thread. Also, because no one on cc is a college admission officer, everything written should be read with a grain of salt. People are only writing from their own experiences, which may just be extremes of the popluation.

Also, with regards to the ed thing, i believe that ed boils down to money or no money, as Brown is pretty skeet when it comes to financial aid. But I´m not sure how generous or ungenerous Brown is when it comes to families of less than 50k.

I am applying to the BROWN plme program this year and I was curious to know if everything you planned had gone through they way you wanted it to and , if you don't mind me asking, whether you had gotten accepted into the program?

this would really help me estimate my chances for this year. thanks!

Can anyone enrolled in the PLME program chance me:

Considering my stats and the fact that I'm an "asian" international student with an American Citizenship, which universities(With the particular program) would be realistic for me?

Appreciate the help people.

No need to take your SATs again, your score is fine stop worrying. Looking at past years acceptances and such, Brown seems to have a knack for rejected lots of Valies. I dunno if that will work against you, but you should be fine. Your ECs seem very good, but 5000 from Girl Scouts? That looks like....alot. Is that normal?

Original post was made on 6/27/06. davidj1126 bumped it up with post #14.

I was just wondering what my chances of getting accepted were. Here are my stats

oh and i was replying to lux perpetua43 btw…
