Kcombs, I think that overall you have a shot. But, I would be surprised if you got in EA. Your SAT scores are on the lower side for ND. Your EC and your rank seem like they may be your strength. ROTC might be your hook in. Good luck:)

Thanks for the quick reply. I figured it’d be a long shot and that I’ll likely be deferred, I’m hoping that CAP and ROTC will be a nice hook like you said!

Kcombs,

Convey to admissions your strong passion to be a student at Notre Dame. If you want to truly be a part of the Notre Dame family and ND is your dream…let them know it. Your background makes you competitive enough for admissions to ask - “how much does this candidate want to be a part of this incoming class?” If you want ROTC at ND and it’s your passion show them and go for it. Good Luck

People always say things like, “If you really want to get in, show the admission officer that you serious. Let them know you’re passionate about their school.” But exactly what should you do to show this interest if you have already sent in your application/ resume/ recs etc? Do you email admissions? If so, what do say with out sounding like you’re trying to 'Brown nose"?

Good point Dungareedoll…I am sure there are alot of us passionate people amongst the 15,000 apps for the 2,000 spots. (minus 25% legacy, diversity quotas, athletes, etc.)
I tried to call my ad counselor a couple of weeks ago to express my passion, but he was in a staff meeting and must still be in it because he never called back…

Thanks for the reply. I really do hope to be part of Notre Dame, though I think my decision has likely already been made. I will definitely talk to admissions further if I am deferred, how would you suggest I speak to them without seeming to be a suck up?

Dungareedoll, my daughter applied EA, then had a great month of November, way too late to include those activities/accomplishments on her application. She emailed her counselor, not sure if she was somehow cheating the process, but got an immediate, positive response back from the admissions counselor. The EC invited my daughter to let her know of anything new that comes up that would impact her admission and said she’d put the email in her file. I think if you are interested and have new data to add, it seems that the admissions people are very interested in hearing about it. Good Luck!
