Sorry! but i am stressing out hardcore

you guessed it. another chances thread =( haha i’m sorry and i know it doesn’t mean anything but i would REALLY just like to know where i stand in the applicant pool and if i stand a chance b/c i really love barnard, its courses, its strong alumni, etc etc. feedback would be much appreciated!! :)

Essays are pretty good, teacher & gc recs should be fairly good as well

oh and also, approx how long should the barnard supplemental essays be? they say “well-developed paragraph”… does that mean around 10 sentences? less, more? thanks in advance!

We really can't tell you your chances -- but I would note that I think that for Barnard, GPA is more important than test scores. But I am sure that they look at the GPA in the context of your school & the courses you've taken.

thanks calmom =) yeah, i know my GPA is horrendous but i was stubborn and insisted on taking honors/AP math & science courses but failed to realize that my poor grades in those classes would bring my GPA down tremendously. my courseload has been pretty rigorous, 7 APs by end of senior year and the rest mostly honors classes

Well, the problem is that you are competing against many applicants who have taken honors & AP math & science classes and done well. That doesn't mean that you won't get into Barnard -- I am sure that your application will get serious consideration -- it's just that you have to be realistic, and I think that Barnard is a reach for you. (That's o.k. -- it was a big reach for my daughter, too -- and she got in).

Are you also looking at some match or safety schools? I noticed that you have also posted on the Wellesley threads -- if you are interested in a woman's college, I'd suggest that you also look into Mt. Holyoke & Bryn Mawr. Your high CR & writing SAT scores might work to your advantages at colleges that aren't already deluged with high-stat applicants.
