Sorry for the inconvenience, but...

...but I just had to post this chances thread. ;)

I'm a junior right now at a very competitive public school. So far I'm thinking about applying to Duke next year as an environmental studies major (I heard it has a very strong environmental science/ecology program - if you have any more details I would appreciate it!)

[Academics]

...And some other small stuff

[Summer activities]
2003 - travel in Europe and Asia
2004 - skipped 2 courses
2005 - skipped 1 course, worked as a tutor
2006 - NJ Scholars Program, Environmental Management course through Harvard SSP, JSA symposium on leadership and politics, maybe getting a job and/or a course or two at the local CC if possible

I've explored the fields of biology and public policy throughout high school, and they overlap nicely in the field of environmental studies, which I plan to major in in college.

What do you guys think of my chances? Thanks in advance for any comments. :)

I would be amazed if you were rejected.

You look like a strong candidate for the AB Duke

I think Achil's statement is overblown. I certainly don't see any basis for considering you a weak candidate for admission, but a strong candidate for an AB? A person for whom rejected would be "amazing"?

I believe you're probably a reasonably strong candidate, but I think he's quite mistaken about that.

well i'm from new jersey too and i got in this year with pretty similar everything.. you have a good shot good luck

a lot of people apply from the tri-state area. make sure your essays are top notch and they will complement your impressive stats.
