CALS: major- science of natural and environmental systems

Gpa: 3.84
Freshman Year: 3.5
Sophomore:3.99
Junior: 3.96
rank: 10/50 *
arizona pub.
my school's pretty competitive; we're considered to be one of the top high schools in az
SATs: 680, 780, 760 (1460/2200)
*if you're wondering why my rank is so low, its because of my freshman year which was not that good at all and some classes I did badly in that aren't "core academic classes" I also had some A-'s on my transcript that brought my rank down

--hardest course load possible, but no APs since my school doesn't have those--

my extracurrics and stuff are pretty good: I don't think that I would be rejected from a college because of them.
but here they are
-founder of an environmental organization: I have tons of awards and conference/symposium attendance things
-president of a volunteer organization
-captain of the debate team
-Girls State
-Arizona State Math contest awards for sophomore and junior year

looks good to me, i see your interest in your major through your first EC

how do you think they’re gonna take the rank?

considering its only out of 50 people, its not that bad, also since you go to a more competitive school, 10th isn’t too bad

Looks good, but how can one of the top high schools in AZ have only 50 students in the graduating class and not offer a single AP course?

whats your race? it makes a big difference

how big of a difference does it make at cornell if you are a minority?

to answer the question about my school: our average SAT score is 1360/1600. we learn a ton.
I’m indian as asian indian

in answer to the last post, I have no idea as to how much your minority status could matter

URM helps but its not a HUGE factor

indian doesn’t help at all lol. how many kids were taken by cornell last yr? you might be in a competitive school but doesn’t mean cornell takes a lot from your school =

You have about a 10% chance. Maybe 20 if your essays and recommendations are great. Not being in the top 10% is a big negative. If you don’t have AP’s you should have taken a college course online or in the evenings.

so, to sum it up…I show interest in my major BUT it doesn’t matter because of no APs and rank out of 50
just to let you guys no, there’s no way i could have taken a college course in the evenings, I’m too busy doing hw and working
just because you don’t have APs doesn’t mean you don’t learn anything!
