Sorry if this is in the wrong section

I just like the people on this section the most and I dont know what other sections I can put this in. Is AP bio hard? whats the best way to keep up with it?

It depends on the person, but in general, it’s not extremely hard. It requires a lot of memorization - so if you’re decent at science and good at memorization then it’s not too terrible (I’m not a science person, haha, so you’ll never hear me say AP Bio is good, but it’s definitely not that bad).

Cramming for bio the days before the AP test is NOT fun - so keep up with studying and memorization throughout the year. It would make things a lot easier (trust me, I was totally wishing I did this). Buying a review book and studying it throughout the year will help also - so much better than trying to review/learn it all in a few weeks. Cliffs AP Bio is probably the most recommended review book. Five Steps to a Five AP Bio is also really good. I used both of them, which gave it some variety (I found Five Steps to be more interesting to read and it had better explanations of some subjects, while Cliffs sometimes had more necessary information). They’re both very helpful though.

So basically, I would just suggest learning and memorizing as much of the material as possible throughout the year, and using review books throughout the year as well. Good luck. :)

(And okay, I guess you could cram it all in the last few weeks like I did, but it’s much less stressful if you do the work throughout the year :P)

thanks! i need to do really well 'cause i screwed up freshman year because of laziness, lack of setting priorities straight, etc. I LOVE science. The only science I hate is chem, i just cant understand it no matter how hard i try. I already have assignments due next school year! im going to work really hard next year. i am looking towards next year!

It really depends on the teacher. Like at my school, the teachers varied immensely in difficulty. In my class, getting an A was almost impossible (one person got an A out of twenty-five) due to very difficult tests, whereas other teachers had more than half their students getting As. Had I been with one of the other teachers, I wouldn’t have had to work hard for my A, but with my teacher, I had to try really hard. But, come time for the AP test, I found it extremely easy to get a 5 (which required no studying whatsoever), whereas students in other classes had much more cramming. But, since our class was so difficult, many students were discouraged from trying, so they had trouble on the test.

If you want a diagnostic test that I’m giving to some of the people I’m helping in bio (it’s only about 60 questions), I’ll gladly email you a copy and grade it for you, and determine your level of knowledge compared to me and other students I’ve given it to. This should give you a fair assesment of how hard the actual AP test will be for you.

I would love a copy! Just send it to me by a private message.

It’s four times too long to PM it to you. So, I think it would be easier if you just PM’ed me your email address and I’ll attach it in an email to you.

AP Biology is probably the greatest class I have ever taken and probably ever will take in high school. It is really important to pay attention throughout the year and I absolutely DO NOT recommend a self-study on this one. Cliff’s is great but other books work as well. The AP test is not hard at all if you have practiced year-round. Good luck!
