Hello,

I'm currently in my 2nd year at a 2-year community college. This past summer, I planned on transferring to a school to major in acting/screenwriting and eventually complete a 4-year degree. I applied to a few schools (UVA, NYU, Northwestern) as a transfer student for this upcoming spring in hopes of getting in as a sophomore. However, as time passed on, I changed course and decided to apply to a few more places as a junior transfer for Fall 2011.

I'm still intent on majoring in acting and screenwriting, but I'm just not sure really what my course is going to be, or where I'll end up next semester. I know a lot of it depends on where I'm accepted. Also, since I've lived in VA for my whole life, it would be a bit better for me to go to UVA just because of the in-state tuition. Then again, I know UVA isn't a big school in acting or screenwriting. NYU and Northwestern are more prevalent schools in those fields.

I have since changed my time of application for Northwestern to Fall 2011, and I'm seeing if I can do the same with the other schools. Still, I'm a bit stumped as to what to do next after that. Should I just wait and see what goes? If I get accepted to NYU or UVA for the spring, should I go or take a risk and wait out the other schools?

The schools that I've applied to for Fall 2011 are now Northwestern, UCLA, Georgetown (just for the proximity to where I live, although I would have to still pay a LOT of tuition), and American (same as G'Town)

Another thing: I was initially accepted to USC's School of Theatre for the Spring of 2011, even though I initially applied for a screenwriting major. Seeing as USC is a private school, the tuition is pretty steep, and my family wants me to explore other options/schools.

My GPA's around 3.5 and rising, I've taken a few honors courses here at my community college, and I'm pretty active within this school's theatre department. I've done lots of drama work in high school as well and got a 3.8 GPA there (though that probably doesn't matter right now).

So, after reading all that, I can best describe to you all my situation in one word: HELP. :D
