So I’ve been doing my research and I want to enter college prepared and on the ball game but I am about as indecisive as the next person. I want to major in International studies but I also want to major in Entertainment Management, however, I don’t want to duel major and I have already wanted to Minor in Psychology, Linguistics, and Biomedical Science.I really don’t want to extend the time beyond my four-year degree. Is there a way to merge some of these to reduce my options? I feel as if it’s simpler than I’m letting myself think. If not what are some other options I can take to fulfill these interests?
Nobody here can answer your question and there is no reason to decide now.
- You need to go through the options and what is do-able with your academic advisor/dean at your college. Many things such as number of required general ed classes (which varies from college to college), requirements for a b-school major (if entertainment mgmt is in a b-school), the ability to minor (ex. my D’s college allowed on one minor), number of credits you have from APs etc. will have to be taken into account
2 )I would also suggest that you take some classes in potential areas of interest and get a better sense of what you want to pursue. Right now you are going off into too many directions. - Also consider what you want to do after college and think about what combination of majors/minors will help you get to your goal.
You can apply undecided, select classes that many majors of interest have in common, and see which ones 1) you like and 2) you do well in.
For most of these majors, you’d take, your first year:
Applied calculus
Statistics
Freshman composition
Psychology
Foreign language (both semesters)
Introduction to economics (or econ 1+2)
Biology
Communication
Plus two others.
Those (above) would have you covered regardless of major.
