I uploaded a picture to Columbia, and from what I've heard so far, other people uploaded like formal faceshots. My pic was of me playing tackle football in the rain and mud, and I was shirtless. I know that the picture isn't supposed to be a factor, but maybe they'll see me in a negative light? Will this be a problem? Or have any others uploaded relatively crazy pictures?

lmao what were u thinking

hahaha... don't worry about it too much. They'll probably just chuckle over it and move on.

hahaha omg that's awesome. i don't think it'll be a big deal..especially if you touched upon that aspect of your life in your essays. someone i know included a picture of her dance recital, as it is something she wrote about. she got in. but i don't think it'll really matter.

thread tools -> recommend this thread

I like how it goes along with your username...

Thanks guys, I'm more relieved now. Yea, I dunno what I was thinking. I procrastinated on my apps and slept 3 hrs the night before to finish 'em, and I guess that had a toll on my brain. x_x

Haha that's pretty funny. Care to share the picture with us? :D

I promise I will...if I get accepted. :D

haha OK. This thread is making me regret submitting such a bland picture, instead of one of me smashing tiles at my black belt test.

the point of the picture isn't to show another unique aspect of your life.

But it's to add personality/humanity, right? That doesn't mandate a boring face picture.

you were shirtless...?!

This sounds like some homoerotic attempt to transform your application into an Ambercrombie & Fitch print ad.

^Lmao

I actually think the picture is for them to verify a) that it was actually you who attended your interview, and b) you are the race you claim to be. If it weren't for the picture, anyone could claim to be Black or Hispanic in order to wreak the benefits of Affirmative Action.

I actually think it's very unique ;) After they go through all those standard poses and all, they might remember the person playing tackle football in the rain. Haha. Don't worry about it.

"If it weren't for the picture, anyone could claim to be Black or Hispanic in order to wreak the benefits of Affirmative Action."

i could claim to be black and then upload a picture of flava flav; if the ad. off. is a little out of touch, he/she will never know the difference :) (and if they ask why i look so old in the pic, i could just say i'm an 18-year-old smoker...). http://sixshoota.blogspot.com/flava%20flav.jpg :p

It's "reap the benefits" not "wreak the benefits."

But the picture is optional. If you were lying about your race, you could just omit sending in the picture.

If you were lying about your race, you'd be exposed eventually in the span of 4 years when meeting your counselor anyways.

C02, whoa, you're right on. It actually did look a little like: http://www.jellymuffin.com/layouts/Brands/Abercrombie_and_Fitch/thumb.jpg

Except I'm Asian and a little better looking than him. Let's just hope the admission officers are all female. Jk. :)
