SOS - International students can't find his soul-mate college

I searched a little: 480CR/790M/640W

How about Bowdoin, Colgate, Macalester and Carleton?

Not a fit for reading/writing-heavy Liberal Arts programs at selective LACs like Bowdoin and Carleton with a 480 CR. And that many years of schooling in English in the USA and educated parents? You really need some good explanation. If I were an adcom at an elite LAC I would not consider you a fit without very convincing evidence to the contrary, such as a 4 or a 5 on a reading/writing heavy AP exam, plus a teacher rec stating that you were a good writer and could read and respond to demanding texts competently. And even then, there are going to be plenty of applicants whose science/math stats are as good as yours, but outscore you on the reading/writing front.

If you are interested in a LAC, I suggest that you look at some where your math and science scores would be unusually high.

480 CR would make most selective colleges high reaches even without FA. It would take a miracle to get acceptance from any need-aware ones. So don't waste anytime on any school that isn't need-blind. Your option for merit-based scholarships is now extremeley limited also. Forget about USC. Even the ones from tier 2 or 3 public are gonna be difficult to get as they depend very much on your SAT I score. And Iowa is better than those anyway. I am afraid Iowa may be the only realistic option given the situation; like I said, don't get discouraged; it's still a good school.

Carnegie Mellon University is worth a look. As written above, your low SAT CR score may have to be addressed, but you are clearly a highly intelligent individual with respect to math & science ability. CMU, Purdue & Georgia Tech may be worth an application, although I am unfamiliar with their financial aid policies.

I took the ACT

better reading for sure

ouch, i guess im lucky i got my green card 2 yrs ago lol, it's been 7 yrs now!
i feel bad for ur status,it puts u on a really ..bad situation```

your top 3 schools should be MIT, Stanford and UC-Berkeley. They are strong in Chemical Engineering, Computer Science AND Business so you can't go wrong at these schools. MIT should be your #1

Do not apply to Stanford and UC Berkeley. It is extremely competitive to get FA at Stanford, and forget about FA at UC Berkeley.

Do not apply to CMU. It does not provide any FA at all to internationals.
