SOS, need some help to solve this CR question in KAPLAN 12 practice tests for the SAT

in page 669( section 8, pr 8), there is question #7, asking a vocabulary meaning of " MECHANICALLY" in its context clue.

i am really confused about this "correct" answer and its explanation.

according to the passage,
"UNLESS he is writing MECHANICALLY, the writer does NOT experience his writing as an act of creation ; he experiences it as an act of discovery."

I think the " unless" is used only in some CONDITIONAL SATEMENTs ( usually in LSAT) as a meaning of "if not".

so i equated this sentence like this...
NOT writing MECHANICALLY, Then NOT experience his writing as AN ACT OF CREATION.

so in its CONTRTA-POSITIVEly re-made statement...
Experience AN ACT OF CREATION, Then writing MECHANICALLY.

an answer choice C of #7 is "correct" according to its "correct" answer sheet and "explannation".

(c) un-imaginatively

i think, an correct answer rather ought to be like the word "IMAGINATIVELY" rather than the word "UN-IMAGINATIVELY"
because i equated the word "CREATION" with the word "IMAGINATIVELY".

Guys please, please, please help me? am i wrong? or am i right?

Lol I typed this on google to see if there’s any good explanations… Because I don’t understand it either . Help anybody?

Unfortunately, here is your explanation:

When you see KAPLAN and practice tests for the SAT in the same sentence, ignore and move on.

Sounds harsh, but the example you offer is why some of us insist to NEVER use the PRACTICE TESTS produced by Kaplan, PR, Barron’s, Gruber’s, etc.

Throw them away!

I agree with Xiggi. I found that these type test questions are not what you will see on an actual SAT.
