Soup-Kitchen Volunteers Hate College-Application-Padding Brat

Funny Onion article

Soup-Kitchen Volunteers Hate College-Application-Padding Brat | The Onion - America's Finest News Source

Funny stuff.

That’s not even remotely funny.

i liked that one.

are you kidding borb? That was a pretty funny article.

In my opinion, the best comedy has a hint (or more) of truth in it, which this definitely has.

I’ve never really found The Onion funny to start with. I’m not sure why, but even though I tried to laugh, I just couldn’t. Cracked is funny IMO

Borb: The Onion is rife with stuff like this. The quality of humor writing there is quite high. Maybe this one rubbed you wrong. One of my favorite fake headlines (the day after the Obama election): “Black Man Given Nation’s Worst Job”

I’m not a huge fan of Onion but I found that article great.

I did laugh at the headlines for the Obama article, but I just didn’t find their articles that funny. I do laugh quite a bit at their videos though.

So this is fake?

itry: theonion.com is a parody news website. Yes, it’s fake. But bitingly spot on dontcha think?

I love the line where the kid mistakenly asks the coordinator to leave the break room, thinking he was one of the homeless people!

Hilarious. :D

I usually love the Onion, but strangely this one just didn’t tickle my funny bone. I guess you have to know someone like that personally.

I love the Onion.

It’s actual satire at it’s best. The sad thing is… IT’S SO TRUE!!!

Excellent…a slap in the face at the absurdity of the college admission process and the meaningless of some of the volunteer activities these kids do…I loved it.

Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with volunteering. The reward for doing this stuff is not suppose to be Stanford though…etc. Nobody wants somebody like that around.

It’s kinda a Matthew 6:1 thing…

Take heed that ye do not your righteousness before men, to be seen of them: else ye have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.

“Drugs Win Drug War”

U.S. Drug Czar Cedes Power To Nation’s Stoners

January 10, 1998—After nearly 30 years of combat, the U.S. has lost the drug war. Drug Czar Barry McCaffrey delivered the U.S.'s unconditional surrender in a brief statement Friday. “Despite all our efforts, the United States has proven no match for the awesome power of the illegal high,” he said. McCaffrey then handed over power to High Times magazine editor Steven Hager, who will now head the new U.S. Office of Drug Policy, replacing the now-defunct DEA.

That was actually pretty funny.

Haha that was great.

This wasn’t a parody this was REALITY!

The genius of the Onion is that many of its stories seem like they COULD be true. The Onion–founded by some U Wisconsin guys who hate the striver types who pad their resumes for college apps. An that’s true.
