SOUP Weather is Here/Coming! What's your favorite soup?

Lol about chicken, MotherOfDragons.

Parsnips might help to add a little flavor to veggie broth. This one is supposed to be good.

For that meaty umami flavor without meat, add mushrooms.

Costco has peeled, cut up butternut squash, for folks who are interested–$6 for 2 pounds.

When we want a little more meaty flavor we add Worcestershire sauce. It bulks up the flavor for milder tasting things. We use it to boost ground turkey for meatloaf and burgers and chicken and turkey soups, too.

One caveat - some commercial Worcestershire sauces contain anchovies and therefore cannot be used in vegan dishes.

The umami flavor in Worchestershire sauce comes from fish.

Someone just gave me a bottle of Braggs Liquid Aminos. I haven’t tried it yet but it says it is a low sodium, gluten free alternative to soy sauce.

Braggs is not “new,” as its been around for at least a decade or more. To me, the taste is very similar to soy sauce.

With the stock market performance of late, I think we are going to be eating A LOT of soup.

I like tortilla soup and baked potato soup from a restaurant called Houstons. My favorite soup that I make is New England clam chowder. It has a lot of bacon in it. There’s almost never any left when I make it.

We had split pea soup, today. Yum!!

I just pulled out a recipe for split pea and flanken soup that I’d clipped from somewhere. It’s the season with our current cold spell!

In this weather and the snowstorm coming, I just keep thinking of a nice steaming bowl of pho.

Nice deal on the Instapot at Walmart if anyone is interested.
Oops it just sold out!

The deal is sold out. That was quick!

@BunsenBurner Sorry about that but it seems Walmart has other models of the Instapot if you want to do a price compare with Amazon.

Thanks! I did not need the combo, but the price was good anyway.

I was curious… Has any of you bought the Bluetooth version of the IP?

Ree the Bluetooth instant pot…,I looked at it when I bought my instant pot recently. I couldn’t figure out the benefits of Bluetooth… You have to be within 30 feet of the IP to use it… Not like you can turn it on from work or anything.

Speaking of my new IP, I made split pea soup in it on Sunday. Simple ingredients, and it was delicious!!!

I make a lot of split pea soup. I cooks fast in the pressure cooker.

Thanks, @JustaMom5465 ! I read the description, too. I was hoping it would be one of those magic “Internet of things” thing. Nope. Why would I want to check it from 30 feet away? That’s 30 steps towards my step count!! I would not want to waste that!
