South Dakota Tech vs. New Mexico Tech vs. Oregon Tech

Hi all,

I have been accepted into these three schools for Fall 2016 as a transfer student. I am wondering what you all know about them.

(Also, I was accepted into University of Alaska Fairbanks and Montana State University, but I think Fairbanks has too much air pollution and Montana State is too expensive for me.)

WHAT I KNOW--------------------------------

  • South Dakota School of Mines and Technology is located in the largest city, Rapid City, SD. This would be somewhat of a plus. I imagine there is a little more to do here.
  • New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology is located in Socorro, NM which is a very small town. I think New Mexico Tech might have the strongest reputation. I have family an hour away.
  • Oregon Institute of Technology is situated in the most beautiful location. I know nothing about Klamath Falls, OR.

WHAT I’D LIKE TO KNOW-------------------

More about the cities of Rapid City, Socorro, and Klamath Falls.
More about the cultures of the schools.
Reputation of schools?
Academic rigor
Personal experience, random things you’ve heard, anything else that you care to share!

Thanks all!
