South Dakota???

You guys lost to SD at home??? That's hysterical. Hockey season can't come soon enough.

You’ve got to be the most immature adult I’ve ever encountered barrons. Honestly, behind your proper grammar and 12,000 posts, you’re really just an immature 50-year old who still lives at home with mommy and daddy. I know 13 year olds who are more mature than you are man. It’s pathetic. I just don’t understand where your head is at some times.

Bashing UMN on the UW forums is borderline, but coming here just to gloat is really a new low for you. Congrads. I hope you get a life soon. Or at least a hobby.

You have to learn to expect this from barrons. After all he makes the UW sound as if it was heaven on Earth. No problems ever. Perfect students, perfect kids.

All joking aside, yes BASKETBALL and hockey can’t come soon enough. I’ll probably make the trek to Madison this winter to watch Tubby and the boys make it 4 in a row.

country–have you ever been on a college sports board? You will find far more far nastier posts by often very adult successful alumni about their schools and/or others. It’s what MANY normal upright parents and professionals do to relax and add to the enjoyment of college sports. Maybe you need to remove the stick. Here’s the main Gopher sports discussion board. You will find many far nastier posts by the hometown adults about the Gophers performance last week than my very mild little tweak.

PS, one of my buddies in Minny sent me this email that another local team sent out. Even they had some fun with it. Lighten up there Francis.

"As a Minnesota Wild season ticket holder, I received the following e-mail update today from the team:

Greetings y’all, I hope you enjoyed this beautiful Sunday afternoon despite the Minnesota Gophers’ loss in American football. Not to worry, there is no shame in losing to USC because they are a perennial power and they sometimes skirt the rules.
Oh, South Dakota you say? Hmm. Well, I’m sure they’re good too.
Anyway, it may have been beautiful outside, but there was a lot going on today in the Wild world. First off, more than 300 people were in line today to get tickets starting at 9:00 a.m.
Also, we finally had some game action. The Wild prospects are undefeated in Traverse City after a 2-1 win over Carolina’s prospects. Tryout player Tyler Johnson and last summer’s free agent signing Joel Broda picked up the goals. College free agent signing Jarod Palmer picked up the first assist on both goals. Casey Wellman also picked up a helper. But it sounds like goaltender Matt Hackett was the story in the opener.
Finally, the Wild will welcome fans to an open scrimmage on Sunday, September 19. The doors will open at 10:00 a.m. with the scrimmage starting at 10:30 and ending at noon. More information surrounding the event will be announced later this week. Enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Yes I quite often frequent sports message boards, seeing as how the Twins are currently threatening for MLB best record. Plus, who isn’t a huge Wild fan here in Minnnesota.

But the problem I have is this- this isn’t a sports message board. This is supposed to be board where students and parents can come and discuss colleges within a comfortable atmosphere.

While you point out that I should “lighten up”, you fail to mention that you weren’t being comical in your post. You were taunting. I wouldn’t have a problem if you were a “proud alumni” but I know you’re not. I know you’re just some guy with no life who likes to rag on every school other than UW here at cc.

No life, hmmmmmmmmm. Happily married, three homes, great job, 6 cars–mostly classics, art & antiques, active in several charities, frequent travel including 2 weeks in Kona every winter. Over Memorial Day we decided to spend 4 days in Austin because we wanted some good BBQ. Next year we’'ll do the same in Kansas City. Mix in a few long weekends at the Venetian in Vegas. Yes my life sucks. Or not. And I spend no time in my mother’s house or basement as I left home for good when I was 18 and self-funded three degrees. My mother has been RIP for many years now.

There are no rules as to what gets posted and you will see some sports related posts on many of the individual college areas such as this one. Obviously there is not much activity here right now. You may call it taunting if you wish. I don’t really give a rip. I did imply hockey at Uminn is good and a proud program unlike the football follies.

I only have a couple schools I think are overrated and “rag on”. I often support most other B10 schools in general and major state schools all over the US for the most part. I rarely get into fights over the Best Ivy or the best LAC. And I have visited every school I comment on as my work over the years has taken me to all parts of the US and if there was a college of any note nearby I would take a look at it.

Thank you, countrygentleman, for saying what the vast majority of posters have been feeling for a very long time. You might want to go get a barf bag, just in case the self-aggrandizing and self-congratulatory braggadocio garbage continues.

I’m just speaking on behalf of novaparent, jym and probably many other members and guests here.

No one likes you here. Literally, no likes you here. Even pro-UW supporters get fed up with your posts on the UW forum.

Real, REAL, classy talking about hoooowwwww much you own. Are we supposed to be jealous or something? I’d rather be broke than live with all that junk you have and have your personality. Keep buying your expensive items cause those must be the only friends you have. It’s just real pathetic that a multi-millionaire still acts like a seven year old.

jym626 may not be at the peak of popularity either. Anyone who makes a bold statements may ruffle some feathers. Big whoop. The only time I talk about my own life is when it illustrates a situation somebody else asks about such as managing rental properties or old cars. Or when some 18 year old says I live in a basement

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parent-cafe/993594-opinions-marital-money-conflict-20.html#post1065568446</a></p>

Country–you are what 18?? Go have a beer and chill out. You were the one making statements about living in the basement blah blah blah just because somebody razzed your new team. So you were wrong. Get over it.

These comments weren’t to or about me, barrons. Instead of coming back with redirection or insults, why don’t you consider taking a deep breath and considering the feedback? Just sayin’

Oh and by the way… I found it funny-- my DH’s boss is, shall we say, not the nicest person in the world. When people ask about the boss’s personality, they just respond with “He is from New Jersey”. Then people smile and nod.

Over the many years that you and I have been on this forum, we have had some pleasant, congenial, interesting conversations. If you recall, my DH is a UW- Madison alum and his relatives funded a scholarship named in their honor. People were very supportive of you when trees landed on your precious cars. But when you come out of nowhere to insult or attack someone or a group/school, thats just uncalled for.

I acknowledge that if someone is offensive, insulting or rude, I will challenge their comments. Sometimes softly, sometimes not so softly. I have no problem being direct, and am often asked backchannel to say something on behalf of posters who feel intimidated and uncomfortable saying something directly. So I am happy to help them out if I feel as they do on a topic. But I do not ever do what you did with this thread-- start one to be purposely insulting. If you want to be obnoxious and attacking, the pol forum is a great place for that. If you want to insult schools for their teams, it sounds, from your report, that there are plenty of other sites for that where you can be as rude as you wish. Maybe that is a better place for that.

Perhaps, instead of telling someone to get over it" you can consider saying “oops, sorry” . It would probably engender some respect.

**BTW- the comments made are not seen as “spirited debate”, as you want to call it. They are insults and fights. The attitude towards women, students, and people who don’t take kindly to these derisions is really extremely unpleasant. I am glad to see you edited you last post and decided against calling the previous poster a “punk clown”. Kudos for that one.

Oh-- kudos also, barrons, for deciding against, as you had initially, calling the previous poster an “idiot”. Maybe there is hope yet ;)

Only trying to respect the rules. Nice spy work. I think there is a nasty term for what you just did but it’s late Friday and I can’t think of it so I’ll just be nice and let it go. But it was underhanded and not very nice for somebody preaching niceness and manners.

But I did have a thought on my way back from an appointment–there is PLENTY of sports related chat on CC. Just look at all the posts on best sports schools and expanding the B10 on the main board. And you are WAY overplaying a mild tweak of the Goldie Gophers as some major insult. They lost to frikking South Dakota at home in their brand new taxpayer funded stadium. It was hysterical and most Gopher fans see the black humor in it.

Your original post, replete with all the insults, came to my email. Thanks, though, for trying to credit me with some nefarious subversive skill I do not have. Again, rather than continue to take a hostile, defensive stance, why don’t you, in the spirit of kindness that you are claiming to take, just apologize to the previous poster for being offensive. Would be a nice change.

Barrons, if you actually have to go to this great of length to prove to complete strangers that your life is incredibly awesome, then chances are it isn’t nearly as awesome as you try to make it.

Yes, there are: [College Confidential - FAQ: College Discussion - TOS & FAQ](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/faq.php?faq=vb_faq#faq_new_faq_item)

I think this is relevant to everyone in this thread and is not exclusive to one side or the other.
