Dartmouth tends to have a very White Frat Boy image but I was wondering if any current students or recent graduates had any information about if any at all Indians join the main fraternities at Dartmouth. I know there is an asian fraternity but as far as the main houses is there any diversity within them. I in no way want to offend anybody or the school, I was just wondering, these stats arent really available anywhere.

My S’s house (he was a '12) had a number of members of Indian/Pakistani background. (They also had black, white, and Chinese members, to my knowledge.) It wasn’t an “Asian fraternity.” (BTW, it is my understanding that one of the houses used to be majority Asian, but that has changed in recent years.)

I don’t know what you mean by the “main” fraternities. Could you define that?

@Consolation I was just referring to the non-historically asian frats. I was also wondering which of the houses were banking fraternities, I want to work in Investment Banking and I’ve heard some of the fraternities have really good networks. Thanks for the information.

Probably more than one has significant I-Banking connections. (If you want to put up with the crap at those houses.) The house that was known for I-banker wannabees was SAE, of Andrew Lohse infamy. But these things do change with time, sometimes quite quickly. S has had some recent contact with his house and says it has changed in just a few years. If you go to D you will have a year on campus to decide whether you get along with the guys at the various houses and to decide if you want to pledge at all. My suggestion would be to keep an open mind and avoid sheep-like behavior driven by the incessant frat-ranking and other stupidities of freshmen on Bored at Baker. Remember that the vast majority of investment bankers did not belong to fraternities at Dartmouth.
