<p>It is pretty funky, because they use a viaduct(bridge) to extend the lawn, so there is literally grass growing on a raised surface. There are new buildings along the side of the extended lawn. Someday, perhaps UVa will have the money and the guts to tear down Old Cabell Hall. Doing so is controversial, but the fact is that it closed off the lawn against Jefferson’s express design, and now it is stuck in the middle as an obstacle. In any other setting, it would be a treasure in and of itself, as it is quite beautiful. But it just does not fit and needs to go. Then the South Lawn will just be part of The Lawn.</p>
