South Quad?

So I'm going to be in South Quad this year, more specifically Taylor House on the third floor. Is there anyone here who stayed there during their freshman year who could describe their experience and maybe let me know what to expect? Also, if you were also in the Honors Program, could you describe how that went for you?

Wooo Taylor House! I lived in the 3700 hallway my first year! It’s an Honors floor (everyone living on the 3rd floor should be an Honors student, though there could be a couple exceptions). I absolutely loved living in South Quad. The location of the dorm couldn’t be better (5 minute walk from class in Mason/Angell Halls!) and the food is pretty good. Obviously, how loud the dorm is going to be depends on who is living in your hallway, but I lived in an all-girls hallway and found it to be very respectful since we were all serious students. Everyone loves to have fun, though, and meeting new friends shouldn’t be a problem if you keep your door open  Don’t be worried about the community bathrooms either - they’re cleaned every day and, apart from late-night drunk calamities, should be clean and easy to deal with.

Oh, and also, you have Squaddy the Squirrel as the mascot. Get excited about having a giant squirrel running around during Welcome Week! :)

I really enjoyed being in the Honors Program, although the first year writing courses were a little rough (not big on ancient Greek and Roman literature myself). It wasn’t too hard to get the 8 Honors class requirements in two years, but the difficulty of that really depends on what you are majoring in. Let me know if you have any more specific questions about SQuad or the Honors Program! :)
