Southern Arkansas University vs. Henderson State University vs. UAM

I am about to graduate in 2 months and I have no idea what college I am going to attend. SAU offered me a $1000 scholarship per semester, UAM offered me an $750 scholarship, and I havent had my ACT scores sent to HSU yet. Have anyone ever been to these schools and can help me make a decesion. My parents want to be on campus for my freshmen year, but if I have to stay in a dorm I would prefer one with my own room and bathroom. Can you guyss please help me out.

Has anyone had any experience at any of these schools?

I don’t have any experience with any of these universities, but here is some advice on how to evaluate whether or not one is going to be less expensive for you.

Contact the Residence Life office at each campus to find out whether it is possible for you to have the kind of dorm you are looking for, and what it would cost. Then find out what meal plans cost so you can get an estimate for your room and board expenses. On each university website you can find out information about tuition and fees. Add the tuition, fees, room, and board for each campus and you will have an estimate of the fixed costs of each school.

Then make your own best estimate for your travel expenses to and from campus. Will you need a car? How often will you go home? Would one campus be a lot less expensive than another one?

After adding your travel expenses to your first estimate, subtract the scholarship money. This will give you figures that you can compare to determine if one university will be less expensive for you. Books, materials, and personal expenses will cost you about the same amount of money for your major no matter which place you study so you don’t have to account for them in this evaluation, but be sure to include them when you plan your total budget!

Congratulations on the scholarships, and good luck with everything!

Does anyone else have anything to say about these schools. And thanks for the reply, I’m going to try that.

Help anybody…

We looked at Henderson State briefly. You are allowed to take classes at Ouachita Baptist and the cost is included on your tuition for Henderson. You may see if the academic strengths of Ouachita help in the decision. You have to take as many at Henderson as you are taking at Ouachita.
